The cartoon expresses the fear of many gun owners. Mr. LaPierre, no matter what you think of his opinion and/or organization, is guilty of no crimes and the image of a law abiding gun owner being arrested for owning a gun or expressing an opinion in support of gun ownership feeds the extreme partisans who believe they need to have some of the guns being discussed to protect themselves from law enforcement and, according to some, the military itself.
The cartoon isn’t helpful and feeds extremists on both sides of the argument, making it hard for people to talk about compromise.
Respectfully,
C.

When people complain that Planned Parenthood performs 350K abortions every year (and they ain’t the only game in town) people always point out the good things planned parenthood does for “women’s health issues”. Well, true enough, I suppose they do good work in that area. Still the death toll is astonishing.
You should be so proud of your “reasonable approach” to the problem. Just ignore the facts and push your agenda.
Meanwhile, the demonetization of a group of responsible gun owners, who teach gun safety, hunting safety, law enforcement classes, conservation and so on, who have NOTHING whatsoever to do with the actions of those that perpetrate the horrible acts resulting in hundreds killed by what is termed “mass murder” , who have never advocated the breaking of any law concerning gun ownership or regulation and who have never participated in the death of a single child is also astonishing.
But it is true that you are striving to turn regular people into criminals with short sighted knee jerk reactionary legislative action.

Who are you talking to?
Disorganized rants with off topics kinda worry me. I don’t have the aspirations to destroy Americans, but by supporting common sense I get the feeling of danger from you.
.
This is the divide being mentioned.

The NRA is guilty of promoting and allowing weapons of mass killing to proliferate in America. It also is guilty of outlawing any government study of gun deaths, since it knows that no good can come from factual knowledge on this topic (made clear by the radical posters on this site). The NRA spends a lot more of its time helping gun manufacturers than gun owners.

The “cop” has a hat that says gun control, not ban all guns.
Control is a responsible premise that seems to find a lot of push back from the spokesmen of the NRA.
