I’m trying to go back vegetarian. Most slaughtering facilities are cruel, and the chemicals that are in both kinds of meat are un-appetizing.

Heads of lettuce roll, ears of corn hear you coming,black-eyed peas blink in misery. John Barleycorn must die! Oh the misery. Truthfully it’s easier to sleep when suffering of any being is avoided. Buddha worshipers have it right. i think it was Leonardo Da Vinci who said he would not make his body a tomb for another animal’s soul. I’m still a fish and fowl carnivore, but a lot less often.

Fact of the matter is that plants are very much in tune with their environment and there is no reason to think that they “suffer” less or that they love life any less than meat.

I was reading about forests damage from beetle infestation in Science. Trees and vegetation can emit chemicals to cause neighboring trees to increase toxins or insect control mechanisms. My undergraduate study was in Zoology was mainly botany and ornithology with James Enderson, Dr Biedleman and Jack Carter at the Colorado College in Colorado Springs.

Venous Fly Traps, sensitivity plants are fun to grow, and move enough for students to get the drift that plants ca respond in unusual ways to physical sensation. I still grow phalaenopsis orchids, and a few ficus bonsai. I miss being in the field though. When I do get out I’ve seen sad changes to the Artic and sub-artic zone flowers in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. The climate zone’s are moving up in elevation with lost mountaintop arctic zones, due to warmer temperatures and less precipitation, resulting in loss of species. I recall the blue haze of the pine forests in the Colorado Rockies. How can you explain that to someone who has never seen it, and now never will?

Although plant pain sensation might be a stretch without a central nervous system. I would admit there is still a lot we don’t understand about our fellow beings on this planet. I shudder to think what we are loosing through greed and ignorance.

Please, my good Conservative friends, eat at Chik-fil-A! Then eat at McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Burger King. They support the GOP, too.

Make sure you supersize and don’t forget dessert!

Yeah, you Dem Libs really showed us with your boycott! Wednesday was a success. A guy shows up and rants at a window after getting free water and harrasses a drive-up window girl and gets fired as CEO, and the kiss-in was a total failure. You libs are on the ropes!
