I was a Scouter. The values that are taught: Scout Motto, etc. are in conflict with Homosexual values. Gays should organize their own youth program.

Start your own gay scout troops then…leave a 100 year old PRIVATE tradition ALONE!

How are those values of honor, integrity and service in conflict? Please specify WHICH “values” you are speaking of.
.
I didn’t realize that hatred and intolerance were Boy Scout Values.

I too was a scout and believe they should have their own club. The minority should stop taking over everything the majority has.

How I just start with the 1st Value. Trustworthy. Knowing the policy Leaders still apply who are gay. They then try to change the system from within. How can you trust someone like that? What “value” is that?

I support their right to choose their associations freely, as a private organization; if they want to ban gays, let them ban gays. However, given that this is done on the basis that they are a private organization and not required to adhere to government rules about non-discrimination, it is only fair that they lose the privileged access to government facilities and lands that they enjoy. If they are private, then they must be treated as a fully private organization. If they want to enforce rules which are in opposition to government and public policy, then they cannot be treated as special partners by government and public policy.
Problem is, they want to have it both ways. There have been areas where local government made rules restricting access to facilities to private groups which denied membership to people on the basis of race, gender, religion or orientation – and the BSA threw massive wobbly tantrums about this until they were guaranteed “equal” access to all facilities despite any local rules. And that is demanding the privilege to ignore any rule they like except their own.
So much for honor and integrity, indeed. If they want full access to public and gov’t facilities and resources, then they need to follow public and gov’t rules. If they want to be private, then they need to follow the rules for private groups. Fair is fair.

This is in response to the 18 year old Eagle Scout who was kicked out of the Boy Scouts when he told his scout leader he’s gay. He was living by the Boy Scout Oath which apparently does not apply to their leadership.

Another story getting a lot of play.
My son was in a troop run by a jack-booted “evangelical” who treated them like they were in “Jesus was a Marine” boot camp.(He’d never served in the military, he was just an authoritarian, overbearing, “Jesus freak” jerk!) We moved my son to a troop run out of the Mormon church, they never proselytized the kids, and were a very good group of troop leaders.(LDS, IS a minority here.)
Interesting their role in California elections however.
My brother was in scouts (made eagle), was a jerk, and when he became a leader, he was a TOTAL jerk! I never entered scouts, but became an NPS ranger, served in the military, which he didn’t. I supported by daughter in T-ball and other sports, along with her brother, and she became the first FEMALE firefighter/paramedic in her county, and outperformed the men in the department on all tests, physical, and mental. My son ended up in a “unique” area of the military, where “scouting” played a far more serious role.
As to the Boy Scouts, the “orientation” of the originator of the movement, might concern the current “leadership”, as should the behavior of many of their “leaders” who are a lot weirder, and a more negative influence, than “gays”.

When we have a truly color blind society, ie, never.

If they were a truly private organization, it wouldn’t be an issue, however, they accept government money and handouts. Hence the problem with discrimination.

I used to be a scout and I don’t remember any sexual teachings. There was a lot of religious nonsense and talk of honour and integrity.
.
Just because someone is homosexual, it doesn’t mean that he (or she) a paedophile. I know nothing about the story but I imagine that from context, the scout troop in question was a church group.

@TimeWeaver
The Church of Latter Day Saints HEAVILY funds the Boy Scouts, hence the issues.
The Girl Scouts are not, and accept any girl, even transgender girls.

I think equality under the law would force you to ban all groups that don’t agree with government policies, including those with religious affilliation, many fraternal organizations, and all political organizations.
