Not quite, but define “nuts”? People who worship them, or are totally hung up on them are “gun nuts”. Many people do own guns as a tool, are skilled in their use, and have no intention of going nuts with them, including shooting someone when other means are available to “defend” themselves. (I do find it interesting that so many “gun nuts” do NOT know the ethics of use, or how to actually handle a “dangerous” situation effectively.)

Clay Bennet is obviously a “nut” and should ber barred from owning a gun.

Clay Bennet is wrong. Unfortunately, he has joined the media’s feeding frenzy and is not looking at the facts of gun sales data in the U.S.

I’ ve lived with a mental patient. Those people are afraid. they don’t understand what happens in their mind. They are afraid it is people around them who make them feel that way and they just won’t say they have mental problems, the don’t want to be labelled “nuts”.

Then you have those who say you need guns to protect yourself because we live in a violent society of illegal immigrants and man-eating escalators.

Paranoid schiophrenics, by definition, think the entire World has no better thing to do than be after them (or is it an american redneck??? The two definitions match pretty well).

How can mantal patients not be drawn to weapons? They are constantly afraid and guns are “for protection”.

    Not helpful Mr. Bennett.

But I guess I have to again recognize that the function of the comic artist is to provide the editorial cartoon that his customer wants.

I see this site and the artists contributing to it differently since this tragedy hit.

I guess that on “slow news days” the editorial cartoonist might get to draw one from the heart.

I guess that when a cartoonist has a full time syndicated gig, then he can “Stand Firm”.

How did Townshend put it? An artist needs a commission, he needs to have a patron of the arts sponsor and support him. The Medicis, the Pope, whoever. If you don’t have one then you have to have many and you have to dance to their tune.

But this cartoon’s message is counterproductive.

^^ I see its media all the time. I hear what they say about their government, I know how a deranged person thinks and the two fit well with each other.

Do not confuse “guns” with “guns” There are those suitable for self and home defense, regular hunting, and those suitable to invide other countries and kill as many human beings as possible in the shortest time possible. These weapons are the ones that should be banned at weapons stores.

That’s a NO, then. Just as I expected.

Caucasians whose only experience with blacks is from the TV think they know about them too.

I won’t belabor the point because I know you are young and think you have everything figured out, especially things you’ve never experienced.

Clay’s stretching on this, The TCC failed to report this man as a Nut Job to Tucson Law Enforcement. He committed 2 crimes in 2007 and 2008, both were expunged from his record after he completed diversionary courses each time. Had either one or both of these crimes not been expunged, he would not have been able to legally buy the gun from the gun shop

I believe in the right to own guns, but, why would anyone need a semi-automatic or machine gun? What happened to the idea of just a simple pistol? A pistol, to me, signifies self-defense, semi-automatics signify a person wants to do some killing.
