Bennett is implying that if FOX is at the “henhouse”, the occupant cannot be safe. You know the old “fox watching the henhouse” scenario?

Here are two egregious examples of Fox News distorting their presentation of “news” to make Obama look bad.
http://tinyurl.com/FoxTopTenDistortions
– Fox News reporter Wendell Goler reported a story with an edited clip of President Obama at a town hall meeting saying: “If you’re going to fix it, why not do a universal healthcare system like the European countries.” But Obama was actually paraphrasing a question from an audience member before explaining that he wanted to build on the system we now have without scrapping what people are accustomed to and already have. Fox edited the clip to make it appear Obama was advocating a European system. This deliberation distortion would earn a high school journalism student an “F”.
– Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum presented a clip of VP Joe Biden saying “the fundamentals of the economy are strong. and presented it as a comment made in March 2009 as part of a story casting doubt on Obama’s grip on the economy. In fact, the clip came from a 2008 campaign event before the election and, even worse, Biden was quoting Sen. John McCain’s statement in August one month before the meltdown.
Both of these examples show a deliberate intent to deceive viewers. That’s not what a professional news organization does folks!
Yes, these came to me via Huff Post e-mail, but the Huff Post story has the video from Fox and links to the unedited videos and the transcripts. Huff Post gives 10 “worst” examples of Fox’s distortions and falsehoods.. It’s worth viewing, and again, the actual videos are there to look at. This isn’t some blogger’s opinion.
Included in the 10 are the infamous “terrorist fist jab” remark from yet another dumb blonde anchor who was later removed from her anchor slot by Fox. Remember the news producer that was reprimanded for putting up the words “Obama’s Baby Mama” under Michelle Obama’s photo during the campaign? That one isn’t even included.
Remember the Fox news anchors reporting on Obama’s pitch during the all-star game and claimed it “went into the dirt” and they chose not to run the clip that showed the pitcher catching the low ball, which didn’t hit the dirt. That isn’t included either. (That’s one the really rankled me though.)
From trivial items like a pitch, to big items like misrepresenting Obama’s healthcare proposal, Fox News is routinely biased and unbalanced. I hope Fox stops doing it starting now. Fox can be a legitimate news organization, but it can’t skew and distort facts.

BCS, I’ll just jump ahead to howie’s, church’s and puppy’s responses: “You can’t trust them! Look at the sources! They’re Huffington and Foxattacks and media matters! It doesn’t matter if they’re actual footage - look who’s showing it!”

I suppose we should all just rely on the NY Times, Washington Post and of course CNN for fair and unbiased reporting. I thought this was the editorials, not the comics.
Obviously I’m wrong.

These news organizations are in it for profit. FOX tells righties what they want to hear and it’s a great business. CNN and several other organizations tell the lefties what they want to hear. Listening to any of these enormous conglomerates is going to fill you with propaganda and a distorted view. Defending FOX or CNN or the NY Times only makes you look incredibly naive, ignorant and misguided.

ANandy giving out “F’s” for fact reporting what a joke. How often is ANandy even half-right ?

Sublime wit, Mr. B.
Well said, BCS.
A local radio station has a Fox News operation providing their national news on the hour. The angles presented and phrases turned cast “opponents” in the worst light.
They close by inviting you to check out their “news and analysis” on the web. I chuckle because I feel like I’ve heard their analysis already.
I just don’t taste the same mustard in the presentation of CBS, my preference for national news.

ANandy gets an F for a) making sense, b) civility c) veracity. The link is valid – it takes you right to foxattacks. The fact that it gives you clips taken directly from Fox News ought to mean at least something.

The links I posted did not work, as Andy pointed out. I’m reposting with different links:
The Huff Post story, which includes the actual Fox video clips, on 10 worst examples of Fox distortion is at:
http://tinyurl.com/FoxTopTenDistortions
The two examples I cited above are the second and third clips.
– Fox News in March 09 ran story with head “Top White House Economic Advisors Give ‘Optimistic’ View on Economy.” Fox anchor Martha MacCallum leads into video clips by saying: “Take a look at what was said in recent interviews this weekend.”
http://tinyurl.com/BidenDistortion
The segments clips include V.P. Biden saying “the fundamentals of the economy are strong.” The clip was deceptively edited from a 2008 campaign event where Biden was quoting John McCain’s remarks. The actual Biden clip that Fox edited proves Biden was quoting McCain. You can even match the exact backgrounds between the 2008 clip and the March 09 Fox story claiming to be from “this weekend.” The original clip is on the HuffPo site but you can also find it at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7CRDSZ3Pl4&feature=player_embedded
– In April 09, Fox News reporter Wendell Goler reported a story with an edited clip of Pres. Obama at a town hall meeting saying: “If you’re going to fix it, why not do a universal healthcare system like the European countries.”
http://tinyurl.com/TownHallDistortion
But Obama was actually paraphrasing a question from an audience member before explaining that he wanted to build on the system we now have without scrapping what people are accustomed to and already have. Fox edited the clip to make it appear Obama was advocating a European system.
I found the Fox News clip on Fox’s own site:
http://tinyurl.com/FoxGolerStory
and the transcript of the Town Hall meeting it was taken from is at:
http://tinyurl.com/TownHallTranscript
The Huff Post piece includes 10 items, I’ve only written about the two that literally stunned me when i saw them.
I’ll just repeat that these two Fox News stories are remarkably unprofessional. To take a piece of video, and deliberately edit it to create the opposite meaning of the full remark, is proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that Fox’s intent was to deceive and distort.
For those of you who say you won’t look at any proof provided by Huffington Post, I’ve found original sources for the 3 of the 4 links.
To claim it isn’t real unless it’s covered by ABC, NBC or CBS is really, frankly, dumb. ABC, NBC and CBS aren’t monitoring Fox. And when I’ve provided verifiable links from CNN demonstrating Fox’s false reporting and claims that no other broadcast media covered the tea party demonstration in D.C, you Fox supporters discounted that too.
So here it is. Proof that it isn’t just Fox commentators that distort, it’s part and parcel of their News programs. I apologize that the original links didn’t work. I’m going to post this and try each link.
