Unfortunately, I must agree. The people who actually have legitimate questions about health care are oftentimes lost in the noise of “debate”.

CITIZEN, you just demonstrated the point. Too bad you have an irony deficiency.

Actually, i was on iron supplements for awhile (for anemia)…why did you say that?

  11. NoFearPup

    NoFearPupGenius_badge said, 2 months ago

No, you’ve demonstrated that YOU , as a Lib, can’t handle the real world… For instance; what is Obama going to do when the Next Muslim Dictator tweaks the oil market with a tank column? Or the next time another Allah-hero figures out how to put one over on the U.S.? (Remember, the last time, they hardly had to try.) Are you going to talk about “the commonality of mankind” and have a peace summit with them with an RPG shell stuck up your bu#t?

It think it’s puppy – his avatar disappeared at the same time CITIZENshortform showed up. I might be wrong, but I think citizen’s avatar replaced puppy’s on old puppy postings.

But you’re right, I haven’t seen ANandy in a couple of days.

And does anyone know where CF is?

PS, I do hope we can discuss these issues with respect and civility. May I suggest “lib” and “righty” might not help?

Click the avitar. The evidence would suggest that Citishorty is our late puppy.

BTW, could I see some examples of how the Dems have crapped all over the civil discourse on health care?

While trying to google how many Congressmen called Bush a liar on the Senate floor (there were 2 that I could find– they’re on another toon somewhere), do you know how many times I found Congressmen calling Bush a liar– or worse– NOT on the floor of the Senate? Too many to list, not the least of which was Reid and Pelosi, and Bush challengers Kerry and Gore. There were also quotes calling each other liars from Clinton (both) and Obama (and vica-verca), McCain to Bush, Obama to Palin (and vica-versa), and many, many more. (I left out Biden because I think he mistakenly called himself a liar). This is all besides the Obermann (at least 3X’s) led media. (and this google search only included the word “lie”)

Yet somehow it is only now that we’ve lost our civility, decorum and respectful public discourse.

    Sooky Rottweiler says;
Usually, I would offer to help find what you lost, girl in the toon, but lately, wherever I stick my nose, I always end up finding Mittaines (the cat) ‘s catnip stash instead.

Hey, there’s something I always wanted to do but never dared to; switch the cat’s catnip with my human’s pot stash…

    Should I do it?

  27. believecommonsense

    believecommonsenseGenius_badge said, 2 months ago

church, I noticed the word NOT, but didn’t know whether you were still including Reid, so no need to be snarky.

In the previous post you referred to, following the links you provided, none of the speakers called Bush a liar, they used the word “lie” about going to war. Stark said Bush lied about reasons for war while on the House in a nearly empty chamber. The other remarks, saying “lies” or “lied to” were said in committee meetings.

I saw several web sites using the same comparisons you made, mostly from bloggers. They state that Reid and/or Stark called Bush a liar. But when one follows the links to the actual statements, the word “liar” was never used. Does it bother you that the site is misrepresenting the fact?

if it is truly the same thing to yell “you’re a liar” at someone as it is to say “XX lied” to others, then why don’t these sites use the actual language used? Why change “lied” to “liar”?

    see http://www.gocomics.com/stuartcarlson/2009/09/14/

  28. churchillwasright

    churchillwasright said, 2 months ago

So now your saying someone lied about something is not the same as saying he’s a liar? That’s quite a stretch.

This wilson PUNK no one had ever heard of is using Barack for his own personal gain, and needs to be thrown out of congress. If you believe him, that he can’t control him self, then NEXT time, he might SHOOT the President.

  30. believecommonsense

    believecommonsenseGenius_badge said, 2 months ago

Yes, I think it is different to yell “You lie” at someone when they’re speaking than it is to say “Bush lied” to others during a committee hearing.

If they have the same meaning, then why did the blogger site change the wording to say “XX called Bush a liar” from the actual words “XX said Bush lied.”

Because the one word “liar” has a greater impact than saying “lied”. That’s why they wrote the headline with the more sensational “liar” and only by watching the video link or reading more do you discover the word “liar” was not uttered.

  31. churchillwasright

    churchillwasright said, 2 months ago

BCS: First, I disagree with your assumption that the word “liar” had more impact that “lied”.

If I tell someone you lied, that is the same as calling you a liar.

If anything, Wilson has more integrity by calling Obama a liar to his face. But it is against the rules, and he rightly got admonished for it. But these are the exact same rules that the others ignored. There is absolutely no difference in protocol. (And let’s be clear– I’m talking strictly about rules and protocol.)

In any case, you completely ignored the gist of my original comments. (You know, the ones that had to do with the toon?)

  32. believecommonsense

    believecommonsenseGenius_badge said, 2 months ago

church then we agree to disagree about impact of words. and actually church I’ve addressed the “gist” of your comment in your first post a few times in other posts on other toons … so didn’t repeat them, thought you’d probably read them already
