Theme revisited – but the point is valid. If you use such incendiary language in reference to a particular person – calling them an enemy, a murderer, evil, let alone worthy of death, then you share part of the blame when some nut job takes you seriously. It is a caution for ALL of us – especially those who aver that they value life – to choose our words responsibly.

“The official Web page of the ELCA instructs: “A developing life in the womb does not have an absolute right to be born.” As long as we’re deciding who does and doesn’t have an “absolute right to be born,” who’s to say late-term abortionists have an “absolute right” to live?

I wouldn’t kill an abortionist myself, but I wouldn’t want to impose my moral values on others. No one is for shooting abortionists. But how will criminalizing men making difficult, often tragic, decisions be an effective means of achieving the goal of reducing the shootings of abortionists?

Following the moral precepts of liberals, I believe the correct position is: If you don’t believe in shooting abortionists, then don’t shoot one.”

Hey, if you liberals can call conservatives all the hateful names you do, well…….

    GET USED TO IT!!!!

And remember……we have all the guns!!!

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a story in today’s New York Times that details how some of Bill O’Reilly’s critics are trying to blame him for the death of Dr. George Tiller:

In all of Bill O’Reilly’s denunciations of Dr. George Tiller, he never once called for anyone to even post his address on the web, never mind call for his death. Yet O’Reilly is being blamed for Tiller’s murder. If O’Reilly’s critics had any sense of decency, or fairness, they would have long condemned what Hustler king Larry Flynt once said about the Fox News Network personality.

On August 5, 2003, Flynt launched a National Prayer Day, calling for O’Reilly’s death. Flynt asked God “to afflict Bill O’Reilly with a brain aneurysm that will lead to his slow and painful death. O, Lord, may his blood vessels bulge out of his head and explode without mercy.”

To my knowledge, none of O’Reilly’s foes have ever damned Flynt for this despicable comment. They therefore have zero moral capital to lash out at O’Reilly for his criticisms of a man who proudly took the lives of over 60,000 children.

IrishEddie, I think your comments come dangerously close to condoning violence or even to threatening it. That is not a Christian attitude. Period.

As to name calling - are you saying that if someone calls you a name you should reciprocate? Show me that in the epistles! That’s more the attitude my kids used to take in elementary school.

As to Larry Flynt’s comment – first I heard of it. I don’t usually read his material.

    believecommonsense, agreed.

Cdward is right Eddie, your comments toe a dangerous line. I think if you believe a fetus is human, then you have the right to use the term murderer. Free speech should be free. But until the State decides it *is* murder, you don’t have the right to call for sanctions of any kind. Peaceful protest is the best (and only justifiable) recourse. I think it is also unfair to state that by opposing abortion vocally that the Pro-life movement encourages murder of doctors. Doing so also toes a dangerous line near your civil liberties. Unless someone can show where O’Reilly overstepped his right to free speech by advocating the death of a doctor, people need to lay off. And for heaven’s sakes, who on earth listens to Larry Flynt?

Cheney and Bush also said they wouldn’t kill young Afghan or Iraqi children themselves. It looks like we may disentangle ourselves from these wars. We should also end the lethality of this argument, and rightfully put the blame on those who stand on the sidelines and encourage the murder of living, real people, for a religious concept that is even arguable in their own “religious texts”. Abortion should not be THE choice, but when contraception is banned, and medical problems DO come up, it should be A choice. It should reside solely with the woman, her conscience, and her medical practitioners.

You know if you look at the debate between liberals and conservatives, it can be reduced to two principles. The liberals trying to protect the quality of everybody’s life while their life is certain (e.g., policies to support minorities, protect main street over wall street, generally opposed to war and guns), yet use pragmatism, science, and individual rights to question saving those on the margins of life (e.g., embryos, unborn children, those on life-support). On the other hand, the conservatives fight hard to protect those who are on the margins of life, but support legislation that does often does not support the quality of life for most people. Thus I do not think either side can take the high ground as the champions of a culture of life. But I think this may provide an interesting place for the beginning of productive discussion.

dtroutma said, Real living people? Do you know what a fetus is? It’s real and living. The first person that aimed at Tiller should have had better aim. Then alot more” real living people” wouldn’t have been MURDERED by the doctor. And Clay….why not build a friggin monument for him. Liberals are the downfall of this country and try to blame it on everyone else.

With the advancements in the medical field over the last 30 years, ask any OB doctor or nurse. It is extremely rare for the NEED of a late term abortion. At that time in the trimester, a fetus can exist outside of the mother’s womb. There is absolutely no need to kill the fetus! Deliver the fetus and let it be adopted out. Children have so few rights and until we start prosecuting for the abuse of human life, they will continue to be objects of possessions instead of persons with rights.

The State does not declare what Truth is. That is a dangerous lie. In Nazi Germany, the State declared that Jews were subhuman and worthy of extermination.

There is one source of Truth – Sacred Scripture. And in scripture we are told “Thou shalt not murder”.

That ends the discussion right there. Truth. Period

Greeneyedtxn, late term abortions are done when the fetus is found to have medical problems not consistent w/ survival. Who is going to want to let the pregnancy come to term, spend millions trying to keep alive a hopeless case, much less adopt it? Very, very few late term abortions happen.

Well somebody hit that target. But really, just because he did late abortions doesn’t mean someone should kill him.
