vicarious … I’ll double your bid and add a couple. It’s no jab “we advance together or we suffer individually”.

Dale Hopson,vicariousvipe,HUMPHRIES,
Well said. If you grew up in the thirtys, spent time in the armed forces in the South in the fortys, as a Northerner from NE, shocked was my reaction then. Horrified in the sixties. Some 28% still don’t get it, and maybe never will, but this toon speaks volumes. I have lived long enough to witness it.
Just maybe, this time, yes we can.

No Stewie… but there are plenty of conservatives who act as IF there are.

And plenty of ‘conservatives’ who act as if there SHOULD be.

There are two particular conservatives, being indicted just today in fact, that certainly believe it. I’m early-30s and remember some of my history, but even when I was in high school, U.S. History ended just after MLK. Nothing about Vietnam was being taught yet (I guess there was still too much angst?).

I was constantly told before this Campaign was not about race…..Hmmmmmmm
motivemagus said, about 1 year ago
No, Machado, the issue is that Obama’s ability to win was not about race, but his quality. That doesn’t mean race wasn’t an issue. I was a grade-schooler in North Carolina in the 1970s when the Supreme Court made their famous judgment regarding busing in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. It wasn’t that long ago that lynching was still an issue. As recently as 1922 an anti-lynching law was defeated in Congress - by white Southern Democrats. In 2000, Republicans disproportionately disenfranchised African-Americans. Having a person of color actually elected President is still a big deal.
Years ago Borgman did a cartoon on “you can’t get elected President if you’re… and he did, as I recall, Catholic (JFK), Southern (Carter), divorced (Reagan), with Reagan holding out the brush to…?

I’m 17 and i get it, i’m positive that all of my friends would get it, and i’m pretty sure that most of the kids in my school would get it. How would ignorance be “nice”?
