Its also rather impossible to state, since our election decisions should be made by referring back to our morals and ethics, and anyone who is religious should and will use what they have learned via their religious teaching. So how should a religious person vote without reference to their religious principals?
Also, the original meaning and purpose of the separation is not that the Church would not be involved in the election process, but rather that the Heads of State would not determine what the official religion would be, as the problem was in England. The king decided what religion everyone should be. When America was founded, it was decided that this would not be the case here. Never was it suggested that religion had no place in politics or in deciding how to vote, who to vote for, or how a politician should act. All those things were guided by religious principals.
