Linda Dean, first of all , a belated welcome to the venerable CD gang.
second, my heart goes out to you for the loss of King George.
I am now with my 5th basset (I only opt for one at a time) and as a veteran Basset buddy, I underline King George’s exceptional longevity. None of my little guys got past the age of ten and the anguish I experienced at the loss of each and every one of those 4 was extreme and devastating. The loss of a buddy who has been with you that long must be the worst feeling in the world. There’s just something about that breed, it’s hard to put in words.I suppose their goofy, lovable nature has a lot to do with it. they seem to instantly worm their way into your heart and when they’re gone, it’s as if part of your heart has been torn away.
    but you know that.
I still think about my Susie, who I met when she was a a little puppy , and who loved everybody she ever met and who, as an old, gray-faced senior citizen with aches and pains finally left me in 2003
    .
I wish I could do something for you but only the passage of time will patch up , but never heal your loss.

So sorry for your loss. It is so tough losing a pet as they provide such unconditional love. I hope that you hang on to all the happier memories that he provided over his long life. Long live the King in your heart.

Good morning to the citizens of Dog that have survived the form filling stage to allow a pet into your home.

Well, gerbil caught the ball, which is a start. Now when he regains his senses, maybe he’ll bring it back to you.

No gerbils don’t fetch, but they do live in the walls for a long time. My sister’s kids had one that got loose long ago. Found him about a year later fat and happy.
    .
Good morning kids. Happy Saturday to ya all.

@Linda I’m so terribly sorry to hear about King George. My heart aches for you. I know there are no words to say to ease your pain. Just know you are in my thoughts dear.

Sorry to hear about Spotty. I hope it’s not bad. My Steel had mass cell cancer. All we could do was try to keep it at bay. With the medicine regiment, he made another 7 years. My thoughts and best wishes go out to you and Spotty.

I very much enjoy my birds, and the wonderful noise they make in my home. They do a wonderful job of taking the edge off of my loneliness.

Thing is, I can’t take my canary for a walk on the beach.

    I miss my boy.
