San Diego Panda Cub Named ‘Little Gift’
By: Megan Gannon, News Editor (CBS News)
Published: 11/13/2012 02:04 PM EST on LiveScience
“The giant panda cub at the San Diego Zoo finally has a name. Staff announced during a ceremony at the zoo Tuesday (Nov. 13.) that they’re calling him Xiao Liwu, or ‘Little Gift.’ "
“The full-bellied furball was born on July 29, but in keeping with a Chinese panda-naming tradition, zookeepers waited to name him until he was at least 100 days old.”
“In a public vote, with nearly 35,000 votes cast, Xiao Liwu beat out five other name suggestions, including Qi Ji (Miracle), Yu Di (Raindrop), Da Hai (Big Ocean or Big Sea), Yong Er (Brave Son) and Shui Long (Water Dragon).”
(note to K M : Here’s your panda….!)

Good morning!
Here’s the scoop: they moved about 80% of all their stuff last Saturday. Then, they both got sick (some sort of flu bug, I guess) and were unable to get the rest. So, yesterday’s moving crew consisted of Ernie and me, one Dodge Grand Caravan and a Ford Escort. But….we got it all in two trips! (We are, apparently, expert packers! Of course, I’m a ‘pack rat’ from way back!) The young ‘uns were AMAZED at what we did! The key word is ORGANIZATION! They were so-o-o-o disorganized! We spent all day Tuesday consolidating everything and getting it ready to go, so yesterday went very smoothly.
But, still…it was a lot of work and, like I said yesterday, we’re gettin’ too old for that!
……………………. I can hardly move today…
