Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

Uhh … yeah. Rate payers are supposed to pay for the electricity they use.

Chucky really has lost it. It’s sad to see even a mediocre cartoonist waste what little talent he has promoting such idiotic ideas.

Certainly is an odd cartoon.
There are miles of those things here in the desert, generating power that does not require burning fuel.

Well gee whiz. Now put aside your prejudice and look at the figures. There are about 110 active wind farms in the US (maybe more by now. Some have several thousand turbines and the largest “capacity” farm only sports 320.
(according to Wiki which well …you know)
Now this site gives a little chart about birds killed by various man made structures and then also points fingers at the much maligned cat.
http://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/green-science/wind-turbine-kill-birds.htm
Feral and domestic cats Hundreds of millions [source: AWEA] (70 Million strays 82 million pet cats in US)
Power lines 130 million — 174 million [source: AWEA]
Windows (residential and commercial) 100 million — 1 billion [source: TreeHugger]
Pesticides 70 million [source: AWEA]
Automobiles 60 million — 80 million [source: AWEA]
Lighted communication towers 40 million — 50 million [source: AWEA]
Wind turbines 10,000 — 40,000 [source: ABC]
So relatively few turbines kill up to 40K birds a year and a BUNCH of cats kill “hundreds of millions” every year.
Birds.
I wonder who it was that got paid to roam around and count the number of bird kills by feral cats. A government grant no doubt.
But never fear there is a study in progress to figure out how to make the bird population more safe.
Humanities work is never done.

Wind power is about half as expensive per kwh as natural gas and roughly comparable to ‘clean’ coal. No fracking necessary.

Is this anti-wind pro-bird? I am confused.

@Larry
And they could do the same in Rhode Island were it not for hypocritical liberals saying “Not in my back yard”.

Funny how that works. I have seen Mr. Asay advocate many energy sources that do far more damage to humans, our environment, and our future. This does not even consider the geopolitical implications of staying/escaping from the whims/craziness of our “allies” in the middle east. Alternative energy is our best means of getting our interests out of the middle east. I remember presidential candidate McCain, mistakenly saying the truth, when he noted that developing alternative energy would keep our young people out of wars in that part of the country. Oops. No one was ever supposed to say the REAL reason we’re over there….

Ima, all this hullabaloo over Solyndra! Where’s the outcry over Plant Vogtle which has received 5 times the amount of federal aid? Oh, that’s right, nuclear power is immune from any scrutiny.

Wind farms wreak havoc on migration patterns for birds. Additionally, local ground temperatures are 3-5 degrees higher than before the wind turbines were installed. Lastly, wind farms are terribly cost inefficient when compared to coal plants.

Thanks for the wind arrows, Chuck. I’d’ve never figured out the mechanics.

Solyndra is chump change. Der Bushnic managed to waste a trillion dollars on a couple of wars. More, probably…. if the government would own up.
