    It can happen to you
    It can happen to me
It can happen to everyone eventually

    If we let it….

I guess the sooner this case gets to the Supreme Court, the sooner we can move on to the next religious convictions vs. political convictions fight. Mr. Asay is such a good artist. I guess his tone appeals to his newspapers’ readers. I don’t blame the artist as much as the readers who help set the tone on this tragic debate.
    sadly,

Says the speaker whose avatar is from a deranged mass murderer with an obsessive love for an even bigger mass homicidal manic. Of course, if the conservatives had their way, we would simply submit ourselves to a free market indentured servitude with decreasing wages, escalating prices on basic services, while the banking system continued to sell toxic mortgage products, which they collapse will take the entire world’s economy with them. Oh wait……….!?!?!

When did you speak out before?

A womans right to choose trumps any and all religious beliefs.
We should have universal healthcare like other countries have including access to contraceptives for everybody who is sexually active and abortion where necessary.

So your religious beliefs trump everyone else? Hope you’re not in charge of anything important.

And it’s a woman’s right to pay for her own birth control pre-coitus just like men have to. Post-coitus it’s murder.

OK yes, A woman’s right to choose….yada yada yada. I agree. Each individual has the “right” to “choose”. If a woman gets pregnant and wants to “abort” that child it is her “right” to make that decision.

Who pays the bill? The doctor ain’t gonna work for free…..yet.

OK great, we no longer have to go to a doctor, we can “play all night” and then just take a pill in the AM. EZ-PEEZY.

    Who pays for the pill?

Horrors, it may cost from 10-50 bucks IF you are over 18 and thus of “majority” and able to make your own health care decisions.

    Different for a minor child.

OH, I know. Let’s just force a person who has a life-long deep religious conviction against abortion to pay for it. Yeah, THAT’S fair, and we are ALL about being fair.

And why should my health care costs increase to pay for those whose employers choose to not participate in the ACA?

@ Ionizer – I cannot say you are wrong. But I will always try to err on the side of compassion and understanding. I identified myself long ago as a peace troll.
@ howgozit – it is hard for me to differentiate the tone omQ used in his comment from the tone of many of the commentators on GC. A thumbs up/down feature might be nice.
However, as I wrote that comment, I was actually thinking of the individuals reading the newspapers in which his cartoons run, not the folks here, Many of whom are ‘freeloaders’ like me not paying for the paper or the website.
It takes a very brutal comment to make me hit flag, and a well stated comment to make me give applause. I have thanked several conservatives for well stated, respectful comments with which I disagreed. I have also flagged liberals who used vulgarities to attack opponents.
    Respectfully,
    C.
btw…is it worth paying for pro beyond getting rid of the mild guilt I have for freeloading?

    @TheTrustedMechanic

Here you go again. If the employer is a JW and buys a policy that does not include that coverage he is not in any way denying his employee that treatment. The employee may have to add another policy that the employee pays for themselves (as in what every person on medicare does because medicare does NOT cover every eventuality) OR the employer has a “basic” policy that he pays for and the employee can choose other options at an additional fee as MANY employers do today for things lite eye care and dental care. So your supposition is flawed.

So you are fine with an Opt out provision as long as the employer STILL pays for the cost of the opt out. What an idiotic thing to say. To quote a famous lady “what difference… does it make?”

You are still forcing one person to provide funds to pay for a service that they disagree with on religious principle. But by you logic if an employer does not want to include “any” service in the policy they elect to provide for their employee at no cost to the employee then the employee has the right to force the employer to provide that service anyway.

Funny you should bring up working for on of JW’s as I have done just that. The people that wanted to celebrate christmas (or any other holiday) were given that right. Those that preferred to work on the holiday were afforded that opportunity. Birthdays were also a “personal” decision. Now you had to understand that there were no “paid” holidays. However, you could use vacation or sick leave anyway you wished. OR you could take time off for “personal” time (without pay).

When the government steps in to require that any person violate there religious beliefs in order to accommodate someone else’s personal belief then they have violated the basic meaning of the first amendment that says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;”

Why is it that you want to eliminate personal responsibility ? Why is it the employers responsibility to provide funding for what that employer views as murder? Are you so irresponsible that you can not control your urges long enough to protect yourself from the possibility of pregnancy knowing full well the consequences of your actions before you engage in the reproductive act that you must force someone else to pay for the “cure” to your lusts?
