Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

When BO spent the rest of the speech name calling and slandering, I’d call that rich, Chuck.

Yeah, Chuck, go ahead and stoke the flames of paranoia that will lead to civil war. Quite the patriot you are! Are you even an American or have you been recruited by North Korea?

Translation: We shouldn’t have freed the slaves, allowed non-landed citizens to vote, ended the sanctioned beating of women and forced labor of children, nor the direct election of Senators.

It’s the NRAsay way or the highway… back to the 19th Century. Or is it the 14th Century you prefer, Chuck? No women’s rights, men’s rights determined by armor and firepower. Sounds like an Ideal place alright, an idea only.

By the way, I’m sure they would’ve greatly appreciated solar power and abortion back in those days.
.
And any historian who’s ventured beyond the kindergarten charicature of our founders knows that the Colonial Army was hopelessly unreliable, often drunk, unpaid and moved to fight only by coersion and the heavy hand of Gen. Washington, who they ultimately wanted to be KING.
.
They weren’t the doe-eyed self-sacrificing Christians that this perpetually insane cartoonist believes they were.

Wait, the NRA’s way or the highway? Are you insane? Tell me which one is trying to tell the other what they “must” do? Is the NRA forcing you to own a gun? All they want is for you to recognize that their rights are just as important as your rights.
Back to the 14th century? You mean when the government had absolute control, you were a slave or indentured servant unless you were of “noble” blood line? Seems to me that Obama wants that power again not the NRA.
Women’s rights? Have you seen how many women are NRA members? Have you seen how many of the gun owners are women?
I tell you want, go to Hialeah, Florida, wait until 2AM and take a stroll down the railroad tracks in the market section of town.
You may have a different perspective on armor and firepower.

Keep up the good work Chuck. The Gimmies on the Left can’t stand having a mirror stuck in their face.

And yet, with all there faults that Colonial Army managed to defeat the Army of the British Empire. Gee, go figure.
Oliver Ellsworth*William Samuel JohnsonRoger ShermanYes, the colonist were familiar with the Monarchy form of government. Change is hard. The new idea, the revolutionary forming of a “Democratic Republic” where the people were the ultimate authority had not been tried before. That is why it was “The Great Experiment” of the times. Washington refused the notion that anyone should be King and why these people:

I disagree. Mr. Asay has done a good job of illustrating what his words get twisted into by people who’ve decided to disagree with him before hearing what he has to say.
