If it were only that simple.

Chucky just doesn’t get it. If Lanza was limited to 10 round clips he would have been able to kill fewer kids; would probably have been subdued the first time he had to change a clip.

But no, Asay follows the “I need a big gun to kill the police” line of the NRA.

“Logic” and “liberal” are a contradiction in terms.

Gun logic in Asayland: “Hmm..I could get a semi-automatic and a lot of ammo from my Mom’s gun case….Thank God for the Second Amendment…..Yep, there they are, let’s go!!”

A high school classmate of mine shot his mother to death with a .22 because she was badgering him about his report card. He went to prison and died at age 42. Two lives ruined by a gun that should never have been in that house. And in Chuck’s twisted “biblical worldview” … oh forget it.

How many more lives must be sacrificed before we can enact sensible gun control laws ? No 1 is seriously suggesting repeal of the 2nd amendment but there needs to be a balance to keep guns out of the hands of people who are not mentally well. Background checks, banning high capacity magazine assault rifles is a start.

“Gun cabinet”? How about a gun safe with a combination lock? How about trigger-locks? How about an alarm-system against unauthorized access? None of these would infringe the 2nd amendment but increase safety – especially against the mentally ill – by a mile. I’m a progressive/liberal/socialist, but I don’t think that this should disqualify me or anybody like me from offering common sense solutions. What does the crowd think?

What law would have prevented this?

I don’t think 22s will be affected at all (aside from perhaps magazine size).

Dude, while you are technically correct in that a smaller clip MAY have limited the number of kids killed (remember that it was 20 kids which is only 2 10 round clips, also there was NO ONE there that had a way to stop him until the police arrived and he shot himself, just a numbers thing) the OBJECT should be to prevent the young man from having those desires number one and if those desires are there to prevent access to Mom’s guns number two (the law requires that people that own guns with a person of reduced mental capacity in the house keep those guns in a locked location denying that person access to them). The ultimate goal being NO KIDS KILLED rather than just a fewer number.

You people are addressing the wrong idea. Ban assault weapons. They switch to revolvers with speed loaders. Ban 30 round clips. They use 3 ten round clips. Take away hand guns. They use shotguns.

    Banning things does not work.

Recently Rep. McCarthy (D NY) said of high capacity magazines, “the common thread in every mass shooting in recent history.”

While that may be a fact that those magazines were in use, it is NOT the reason that these people walked into a gun free zone and started shooting.

So no Chuck does indeed get. You are the one in a fog.

Actually the problem is you people seem to blindly disregard all of the other measures President Obama proposed for gun control… including addressing mental illness and bullying etc. etc. So the fact that banning assault weapons won’t solve the problem is not something that is unrecognized by ‘we people’… we know other measures are needed as well… but while this epidemic is on the rise why make it easier for those who choose to take innocent lives to kill as many people as they can? Is it a measure thats going to stop mass shootings? NO … its a measure thats going to curb the lethalness of legal weapons… Hell why isn’t everybody allowed to own a nuclear bomb? Because they are too lethal. Same idea here.

um excuse me but how hard is it to change a clip? and who says you can not have another gun working while you change the clip?
Face it the only thing that stopped him was another gun in the the “gun free” zone. Then the guy turned his own gun on himself. So in order to save lives you need to have a gun in the hands iof someone else in the gun free zone!

A high school classmate of mine shot his mother to death with a .22 because she was badgering him.. well that solves it all. After the fact and no second guessing it was the gun that killed the mom. therefor we just must be a knee jerk loony liberal and do away with all .22’s nd the next time when the kid uses a knife or hammer well then we must just….

The gun that will be used in the next mass murder has already been sold.
No one is suggesting that Govt go door-to-door and collect the gun types that are controversial.
Other proposals by Obama have greater potential to reduce the threat of Mentals killing Innocents.
I would support a sales tax of $100 per round(bullet) of ammunition and $1,000 sales tax for magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. Gun collectors would not complain.
Home Defenders would not be high users of ammo. Mentals would have to be rich to gather lots of ammunition.
