Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

Chuck, I’m guessing that your ‘Biblical View’ of the world prevents you from actually reading the news. It’s more important to have faith than facts, is that it?
All the Republicans had to do was NOTHING and we would have had $4 Trillion in revenue gains and spending cuts. We would have been $4 Trillion closer to balancing the budget if the Republicans had simply done NOTHING. Instead, they bent over backward trying to protect tax cuts for the rich.

Nope, using the conservative definition of the word. Besides, libs are the ones holding a gun to the head of the nation’s economy.

the rich rich 2% paying more closely to their fair share of taxes suits me just fine. They are working hard to ensure the 98% never become rich so that they can keep it to themselves. That is the one success I can point to for the shrubster & cheney occupation of the White House. Otherwise, huge failures that damaged this Nation and left a huge mess for President Obama.
As usual, chuckie assay’s cartoon is nonsense based upon his fantasy.

Chuck has hit the final solution on the head. More taxes is the dems solution to EVERYTHING.

@Ms. Ima
That’s what you’re saying, not dems. The thoughtful dem is saying taxes have to be part of the solution. It is not a black or white world.

So, tell me please, exactly where is the balance in the deal? Which spending cuts are going to happen? It seems to me that the only thing we got were more taxes on everyone – yes yes the evil rich got their big 4% hike adding 62 billion a year to revenue oh my such an accomplishment – and everyone that works got a 2% jump for SS/MedC which is good.
So again, please pl;ease tell me how that does anything to stop the yearly increase in the national debt? It doesn’t even pay the service on that debt. Plus, the CBO says that the deal will incease the debt by 3.9 trillion over the next 10 years. That’s 390 billion a year INCREASE so that means at the very least that big a deficit.
When do we really talk about balance?
You guys are star stuck.

Gee,what happened to the surplusses of the Clinton years? ….. Oh, Yes, I remember t hey were given back to the job creators so they could move their factories to China and India. That was so we would have a better economy by paying less for their junk.

“fair share of taxes "
who earns the money? Who collects money from those who earn money? now tell me who is paying a “fair share”
plus who does the money belong to? The person who earned it or Obama? And what is it with you loony left and your crushing on millionaire billionaire and why can Obama not keep his figures straight? before 1% now 2% soon anyone who collects a paycheck we will be allowed to keep what he deems fair.

All the Republicans had to do was NOTHING"
how dare they do their job and try to come to a deal that would help the USA. How dare they see what a mess Obama and crew have made and will make if they do not do the job they where voted into office to do.
But you know what, maybe you are right. They need a better pr firm that might high light the failure of Obama to even try to work with them. Obama’s “NO” is the only leadership quality he has and has used! I mean “if only” the R had shut up and let Obama do what Obama wants to do the failure would be that more pronounced and that more on his head. And I will call out any loony lib who utters but bush. Obama owns the mess now and it should be up to the R to make it their mission to show the world what a failure Obama is!

Not to step outside of the finger pointing here, but I read a really good article in Yahoo (imagine that) that laid a lot of the “real” pressure to settle the “cliff” issue came from foreign investors. I am talking about large holders of American treasuries and who are America’s largest creditors. Add to that our credibility with heavy money people that invest in American business, “create” jobs, and pay taxes. America is losing it’s standing in the world financial community as the best place to invest money because of the insanity going on in Washington. To the outsiders we look like we can’t handle our own credit and debt problems so they start looking for other places to invest and start businesses. Guess where they go now? China and Asia. India. Brazil and Central America. I’m sure many will contest this so I will try to find the articles to post.

Bush tax cuts:2.8 TRILLION DOLLARS! Iraq war 1.8 TRILLION DOLLARS. Medicare giveaway Part D: Oh, forget it. This has all been planned to deprive the government of money to pay it’s bills so Social Spending will be cut. BOTH PARTIES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. The Reeps more so, but spineless Dems have aided their efforts, too. We need a real party of, by and for the people, not just the rich corporations.
