Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

Hundreds of conflicts around the world, HAVE been “defused” by the U.N., and then there are failures like avoiding the invasion of Iraq. The “wolf” at the table has often been we, or our “buddies”, especially in defense of corporate profits (Most companies ARE global now, just interesting how many are actually owned by U.S. interests, very thinly disguised.). NO, corporations are not inherently evil, but deregulation, national or internationally promoted, does open the door to the real wolves.

Do you understand what the topic of this cartoon is? The fact of the matter is that many countries now want to “regulate” the internet for their own purposes, which include stifling free speech, among them.
It is not about what the UN has done, or not done with respect to diffusing conflicts.

Of course once more a very opinionated post devoid of fact and ignoring the topic. The U.N. is being dominated by this ultra progressive mentality that would like to impose their repressive mandates on their members at will. In this case control the internet.
Without the fiscal support of the United States they wouldn’t be able to function, much like the IMF. I’m sure you would disagree but I have contended for the years we should withdraw from the U.N. and have them locate somewhere else. Oh yes, don’t forget Bush started the Iraq war, it had nothing to do with the U.N…

Ugh, it was only a matter of time before the powers that be control the internets’ free speech. The controlled medias (TV,radio, print, etc) should be freed as the internet is, not the other way around.

I would almost agree with you. But it does serve a purpose. I would rather have the enemy I know and know where they are then one we are not at least apart of. But I think maybe they should just go to some back water dictatorial Island or something. That would be more fitting.
Of course it does not stop the USA from getting up and acting like an idiot. Like our own President getting up in front of them and blaming a YouTube Video for the acts of radical Islamic Muslims.
Way to go Obama, my guess you do not see the wolf next to you that wants all YouTube taken down that is insulting to Muslims and their feelings. Not Fair, Not fair and all is your calling card.

Really? When? Where? The U.N. can’t even get its members to pay their fees, let alone actually do anything. GE has more clout than the U.N.

U.N. peacekeepers have been killed protecting refugees and enforcing borders. They are a brave lot, who should not be dismissed without a thoughtful review. A review you really should make since you feel they are worthless. www.un.org/e/peackeeing/operations/success.shtml

Note: the ’toon directly starts with “U.N. delegates try to reach consensus.” This is one of the things U.N. does, despite the fact it is typically the U.S. NOT paying their dues, and ignoring U.N. mandates. Likewise, it IS “global corporations” that want control of the internet, not just “nations”.
While the JBS lives, they really need to breath on occasion and feed even a tiny bit of oxygen to their tiny little brains.

Consensus says: the freedom of the internet is evil because people will figure out others have more freedom then they do.
Consensus says: global warming is why industrialized nations MUST give money to 3rd world dictators.

Like most of his cartoons, it displays a shocking lack of understanding. Countries censor and regulate their respective Internet facilities now according to their own laws, just like the US monitors its citizens and enforces laws against threatening the president or child pornography.
