Hey ScottBM, Mitt Romney has refused to release more than 1 year of tax records. President Obama released 12 years of his tax filings. That is a stunning lack of transparency from someone running for the highest office in the land. Romney is unfit for office!

The Ancient Greeks didn’t want the Chinese made junk. Now they are getting it anyway.

So, all poor people have to take their time and money to get photo ID’s to vote, but rich people don’t have to disclose their identity to give Republicans millions of dollars.

Well first of all many of you did not read the cartoon. The Olympics started wearing clothes until a mother wanted to watch her son compete. In the early days only men could compete and women were not allowed anywhere near the site. This mother wore mens clothes and hid out to watch the events. When she was caught she caused such an uproar that the rules changed stating everyone needs to be nude so women can’t be included.

This cartoon really should be about womens rights. Another issue we are loosing ground on. Not clothes made in other countries.

^ "Yes, that’s right – ancient Olympic sportsmen (all men, by the way) ran, wrestled, and fought buck naked. The ancient Greeks had a tradition of doing things nude (they walked around in the buff in the bedroom and at parties called sympsia*, and they exercised without any clothes on) – indeed, the word gymnasium came from the Greek word gymos, which means “naked.”

Why naked? Well, to appreciate and celebrate the male physique, of course, and as a tribute to the gods. Participants regularly anointed themselves with olive oil to enhance their looks … and to keep the skin smooth!

In the sixth century, there was an actually attempt to make athletes wear loincloths, but this proved to be unpopular and soon afterwards nudity regained its status as fashion in athletics.

*Great trivia for the next time you’re in a boring symposium: the original symposium is a nude drinking party (sympotein is Greek for “to drink together”), complete with courtesans (basically sophisticated prostitutes).

    2. The Prudes Wore Penis Restraints
Did I say all athletes competed naked in the Ancient Olympics? Silly me – actually, not all of them were naked.

Some wore a kynodesme (literally a “dog leash”), a thin leather thong used as a penis restraint:

[The kynodesme] was tied tightly around the part of the foreskin that extended beyond the glans. The kynodesme could then either be attached to a waist band to expose the scrotum, or tied to the base of the penis so that the penis appeared to curl upwards."
    .
Asay comes up with the lamest crap.

“The Naked Olympics”, covers the issue, no pun intended. It also describes the culture of the times, and “social acceptance” of behaviors that would really drive the “right”, nuts.

This wouldn’t have happened if Willard were running the olympics.
    Would it?

    Lies again Ian,

The Voter ID requirement states that Photo ID’s would be provided for free for those that cannot afford to pay for one.

You need a government issued photo ID to cash a check, drive a car, open a bank account, get on a plane, and buy alcohol or cigarettes. It is good for several years.

All we want to do is make sure that only people who have a right to vote, are allowed to vote. No dead people, no illegal aliens, no foreign students, no convicted felons.

So tell me, what is wrong with making sure that the person showing up at the polling place is the same person on the voter roll and is eligable to vote? Isn’t doing less than that degrading the value of the vote of the legal citizen?

There are certain goods best made where the resources are located. Making ethanol from corn (Iowa) is stupid, making it from sugar-cane (Brazil) is clever. I wondered if this was true for cotton as well and, yes, it is: nearly double the production of the U.S.! So, maybe, China should get a pass on this?

Then the voter registrar should be issuing a photo ID card that is GIVEN to the voter at no charge.

Excellent analysis, RV. Asay’s cartoons are all pretty similar and a variation of your comments would apply to them all.
