All men should take note: If you are unable to find a job, you are automatically labelled a “bum” by Chuck’s definition. It doesn’t matter that there are no jobs available because they’ve all been outsourced. You’re just a lazy bum!

Face the facts! If you are unable to find a job, you ARE a lazy no good bum! You just have to lower your expectations on what your pay scale is going to be. Just sayin’.

Of course if you’re unable to find a job, it could be because there aren’t any. And it could be that the few around are part-time or low paid and don’t pay the bills, even if you lower your expectations to just a roof over your head, clothes on your back and some kind of food in your belly.

Seems to me if you love your people, you might admit of these possibilities. But if all you love is your party ….

It couldn’t be that the earning power of the middle class has shrunk dramatically while the income of the top 5% doubled?

I remember my dad dropping out of college after one year back in the sixties. On a sales trainee salary he could afford to feed 4 kids, buy a car and a small house. There’s no freaking way that could happen today, which is why a household needs to adult workers to make ends meet.

What you are “just sayin’” is a load of horse manure.
Obviously, you’ve never been this situation. I have – although I’m now retired. I “lowered” my “expectations” time and again. Have you ever heard the expression: “You’re over-qualified”? I have, time and time again. I asked an interviewer, “What exactly does that mean?” His response was: “We can’t afford to pay you what you’re worth.”
Don’t be so quick to judge us “bums”; you really don’t know what you’re talking about.

You behave as if ignorance were a virtue. I just recognize the truth. In myself as well as others. I’m in a union construction trade and have had only 4 jobs in the last two years, so I believe I know what I’m talking about. I’m unwilling to accept less than union scale or travel to another district for work so the only thing keeping me from finding a job is PRIDE, I accept my situation and deal with it instead of blaming everybody else for my “misfortune”. Grow up!!!

If Ersay would spend as much intellectual energy on drawing solutions as he does whinning about perceived (and real) problems with America, maybe we’d have constructive conversations rather than the rants he seems to delight in provoking.

You know what? That post makes absolutely NO SENSE!
    *
    1) Let’s start with: “You behave as if ignorance were a virtue.”
    *
Upon what premise is that conclusion based? Please explain.
    *
    2) Then, let’s address: “I’m in a union construction trade and have had only 4 jobs in the last two years, so I believe I know what I’m talking about.”
    *
I would only mention that the construction trade is not representative of the work force en toto. I have serious doubts that all these “lazy bums” are construction workers. [But 4 jobs in 2 years? Isn’t that like…. Changing jobs every 6 months? That doesn’t sound like a stable person to me.] You obvious don’t know what you’re talking about, since you are not in a position to judge what is keeping others from finding employment.
    [Hint: It isn’t laziness.]
    *
    3) “Grow up!!!”
    *
That remark is totally infantile and ad hominem – It doesn’t contribute to the discussion at all, merely showing that you have not the wherewithal to conduct an intelligent conversation. I guess it’s a good thing you work with brawn instead of brain; otherwise, you’d be in d-e-e-e-e-p trouble.

Somewhat belatedly, I noticed that you say you are unwilling to accept less or travel.
Please explain how that stubborn mindset relates to the “PRIDE” that keeps you from finding a job. (?)

    Never mind.
    I see the connection now.
When you don’t work, it’s because you are a lazy, no-good bum.
That doesn’t transfer to those who are seriously looking for work and can’t find it.
