Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

Kind of late on this one Chuck. You might want to push GoComics to get these out faster.

Is that Chuckie in the overalls?
cjr53 said, 12 months ago
@tcity
Makes sense, a self-portrait. Lots of artists and directors put what they know best in their art. Stephen King wrote himself into his gunsliger series, Hitchcock appeared in his movies as did Armistad Maupin. So, yes, that’s Chucky Asay in the overalls.

So, cjr53, tcity, dtroutma, etc, instead of giving us an answer, (which you can’t otherwise you’d have a double-standard), you make fun of the point instead. So, late on this one or not, there’s STILL not been a suitable answer as to WHY on the SAME position of changing your stance in the political world why Romney “flip-flops” and Obama “Evolves”. C’mon, can you do it without the double-standard?
No? Ok, go back to what you were doing best then in 3rd grade and make fun of the people making a point.

this is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. When you’re ready to start getting this country right and repeal the 17th call me. Til then there is no spoon.

If Asay really supported a “constitutional republic” as his sidebar now states, instead of his “biblical world view”, he’d realize that the RIGHTS of people whether LGBT or women controlling their own bodies, is more important than “biblical issues” in a nation with a specifically SECULAR Constitution.
It is noteworthy that these “biblical issues” get FAR MORE attention from “conservatives” than real world views on energy, climate change, foreign affairs aiming toward PEACE instead of MORE WARS, and the focus of our nation being on survival of ALL species, in ALL nations, rather than just seeing OUR nation, and OUR 1% rising to the top, to command and control all nations, or people.
It is not just our politicians, who survive by never being nailed down to a single position on much of anything, but our necessary EVOLUTION as a society, to recognize that “human rights” guaranteed in our Constitution, apply to ALL.

What’s even scarier is that Obama CONTINUES to evolve apparently in direct response to his falling poling numbers!

@flake-67121
Why repeal the 17th?
1opinion said, 12 months ago
Should portray Mitt as a fish out of water.

I appreciate the info, but I was trying to understand flake’s motivation. I was giving him/her an opportunity to make a case for the call.

I suppose that a flip-flop is a sudden change to a very different position, while an evolution would be more gradual, with intervening positions. I further suspect that the terms are precisely applied to Romney and Obama.

Actually Obama was for gay marriage before his 2008 campaign. Then for that campaign, he was suddenly for the Defense of Marriage. Now that the GBLT is not showing him as much love, he is again for gay marriage – That clearly fits the definition of a flip flopper!
