Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

I thought this was satire until I realized this is Chuck Assay.
He is probably serious.

It is Asay, thus not quite a correct interpretation of what the report actually said. Orchardists have known for decades that wind circulation, modified by spinning blades, warms their trees.

Gee, that must be why feedlots always have fans in the buildings in the summer. They want to pre-cook the beef!
How stupid can this guy be?

I can see that you don’t read the news. I suggest you google it and maybe you’ll learn something

Is he implying global warming is caused by wind farms?

Best brief discussion I found of the problems of this misinterpretation:
http://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Wind-Farms-do-NOT-Contribute-to-Global-Warming.html
The nutshell version: there was a paper that came out in Nature Climate Change which documents how windfarms warm their immediate area, by air mixing. However, this isn’t adding heat to the atmosphere, or allowing more heat in total to be retained in the atmosphere — in other words, it isn’t contributing to global warming. It’s just bringing the heat that is already in the lower atmosphere closer to the ground in that area.
It’s not insignificant, in that it could potentially continue to alter local weather patterns; ironically, there is nothing overtly inaccurate in Asay’s cartoon, everything that is actually in the cartoon is accurate. It’s just not quite what I think Asay is relying on it to imply.

Mucho relieved to see rationality on these comments. Local warming or cooling has nothing to do with the heat content of a system. That’s why you can’t open a refrigerator door to cool down your house. In fact, that would warm it as the cooling system (heat pump) will generate more heat to try and keep cool. Don’t confuse Heat and Temperature.

Humans cause global warming! (not) Kill all humans so the lifeless rock floating through space is avenged. Start with the scientists making money off global warming.

Ah, you wanting to kill people over strawmen based on your ignorance. Nice. Stay classy, there, Ima.

I wonder how much it changes the temperature around it? Could it be 1 or 2 degrees more or less a century? Oh wait that is about as much as the demon CO2 is to be effecting us world wide.

Well shoot, Stevie, I think I’m insulted….or not. Let’s see, the study says that wind turbines of current vintage bring warm air closer to the ground not “wind mills” so deepen your thoughts a tad. He is also showing the damage done to birds by the wind farms of today (see the poor critter getting bonked?). would the moving of heat to ground level remove heat from the upper atmosphere? Now on to the other controversy, cow flatulence (see still thinking) being a major contributor to the greenhouse gas accumulation and the need for humans to give up red meat so the cow population can be reduced (maybe not such a bad idea what with all the health problems involved …. but I do love a bloody steak).
Yes, his intent was probably a sarcastic slam on the whole global warming controversy. But hey, we can all make up our own minds on things like that. Oh that’s right YOU think everyone else is JUST LIKE YOU and easily led.

I don’t see how it could “pull air down”, but I can see how it would disrupt airflow at a given height and given temperature, dispersing the air making impact on the blades 360 degrees.

@Harleyquinn
Are you really that dense? It doesn’t cause a net increase in temperature; rather under certain circumstances it mixes warmer air with cooler air.
Thermodynamically, looking at the entire system, a wind turbine REDUCES the net energy in the local atmosphere.

Good point, birds bonk into my windows all the time… windows are an evil abomination and a communist plot!
