Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

I admire the Honduran people so much. :)
I would jump for JOY if both our Congress and Supreme court got together, looked at what Obama has done since taking office (nationalizing car companies, banks, insurance companies, mortgage lenders, etc), and instructed the military to escort him out of the country–PERMANENTLY.
I’m sure France, Germany, Cuba, or any other Socialist country would be glad to grant him political asylum…
Hey!! A guy can dream, can’t he??
May God richly bless the proud, patriotic people of Honduras for bravely defending their Constitution, “–from all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

Well seeing that he has not violated the constitution and had to support the auto and financial industries to keep the from collapsing I think he is doing a good job. When he actually does violate the constitution by ignoring the 1st and 4th amendments, illegally wiretapping citizens, starting wars based on phony intel and outsourcing all government functions then I will get worried.

The Cheney/Bush “unitary presidency” violated Articles one through three, the “office of faith based absurdities” violated article VI and the First Amendment, but hey- conservatives were all about “change”- remember?

I guess you all have enough time on your hands to watch plenty of movies: look at the “spy” ones. Our “spies” gather intelligence, as best that they are able, and pass it to our government. If we are so gullible that we stop doing this, and rely only on what is proven, we may be too late to stop large disasters. ex: 9-11. So, Mr. Bush got eroneous or incorrect info. I personally apologize to you morons for that. Why don’t you elist in the armed services, and offer your own help in gathering intelligence? Then, I am sure, it will be accurate. This is directed to droutma , ezdeb, and any others who are of like minds. Spend a little time on a mountain in the cold air in Afghanistan, trying to help your buddies down in the valley get the goods on the villains they are chasing. Or, work two jobs in Iraq, and not have enough time to leave to go to the mess hall, because you don’t have a replacement. All the while, remember: you may be blown to bits by a faithful follower of the god Allah.

lightart, no thanks. I’m a pacifist. I am anti-war used as a means of peace. I don’t need to go up into the freezing air of afghanistan, I work two jobs in the U.S., and don’t have a replacement. And I might get blown up by a fanatic at my church or as I enter a planned parenthood clinic, or the local supermarket by a faithful follower of the god “whatever you’re calling him/her”.
I don’t expect that i’ll ever be an effective CIA agent. Is it too much for a moron like me to expect that those who are would do their jobs in good faith?
I see you are a proponent of the bush Doctrine as it pertains to pre-emptive war. I am not. You taunt us with the “why don’t you go be really patriotic? Huh?” I am doing my best to improve and move my nation forward. If it is not in a military capacity, I guess you won’t respect it.
In regards to watching spy movies, I’m not so sure I’d use them as a documentary on how the post 9/11 intelligence gathering took place. Just sayin’.
If you watch war movies, you might also notice that only the bad guys ever tortured prisoners. Americans were always above that sort of thing. What lesson would you take from that?
Lastly, lightarts, any apology that you address to “you morons” is not considered real. : )

These male feminists dont care. Monkey see monkey do. Obama has been praised by chavez, gadahfi, the leader of north korea, every socialist and communist group with a website… and they still love him.
I wish America would finally start defending its Constitution from all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC. These Osama supporters aren’t worthy of the US Constitution. God knows they won’t allow it to be obeyed in any way, shape, or form. They want it redefined into Marx’s communist manifesto.
Our public schools are already just like the ones in the old Soviet Union…

For the more sanctimonious among us, defending the constitution from radicals “foreign and domestic” is indeed becoming a problem, especially the militant fundamentalists among the Muslims and Christians.
Many of us “Lib” war detractors are ex-military, Light, as I am. If you think you’re the only one with a worthwhile opinion on this site think again, we’ve paid our dues to state our opinions whether you appreciate that or not.
I wouldn’t compare Obama to leftists either, since the right wing didn’t defend us too well before 911, did they? And the “revisionist” policies put in place by W have dismantled constitutional oversight to a degree not seen since Nixon.
But you’ve got a right to your’ opinion, as “fringe” as the GOP has become. Just don’t pretend the rest of us shouldn’t disagree.

Your question is a mockery, believe. Because you’re a leftist. You do not believe the constitution has a literal, established meaning.
If you did, you’d know that the very second Obama started handing out money to private businesses, and even worse, taking them over, he violated the entire PURPOSE of the constitution.
If private property means nothing, and government can at will take over any and all business it feels like–simply by making up a reason (too big to fail)–then there is no private property, there is no private business, in essence every person beomes a slave to government, allowed to operate only a pretend private business solely at the government’s whim, subject to change or confiscation or destruction at any time.
Name me ONE–even ONE–private business taken over or bailed out or whatever, back when ANY of the founders were alive.
That’s the obvious point you Godless leftists fail to appreciate. “The author(s) of a document establish its meaning.”
Amending the Constitution is damned hard, DAMNED hard. Yet today’s leftist claims the Constitution is a “living breathing document that evolves with the culture.” Which translates into: The Constitution means whatever we say it means. We can ignore every previous court decision we want, and just make up new rulings at our whim. Whatever our liberal judges say is what goes.”
if the “living breathing” Satanic doublespeak were true, no amendment process is necessary. You just arbitrarily make things up, and that becomes the new meaning.
Which is exactly what the leftists supreme court has been doing for many decades now, robbing us of even having a Constititution, in any concrete sense.
More specifically, Obama utterly ignores and violates both the 9th and 10th amendments. All day, every day. Along with the entire Demoncrat Party.
Enough. Wasting text on leftists is total folly. They never listen, never learn, never repent…
Kylop said, 2 months ago
“…Enough. Wasting text on leftists is total folly. They never listen, never learn, never repent.”
Scott, be honest with yourself. You LOVE “wasting text on leftists”. You clearly spend hours a day doing it. From what I can tell you don’t listen or learn well. As for repentance I don’t think a human can really tell if another human has repented.

Notice that nearly all of Scott’s comments center around him placing the label “evil” on whoever he’s disparaging, that’s essentially what all militant christian fundamentalists do, classify anyone in disagreement with them as ”evil/godless/satanic” and in need of punishment by righteous Christians.
That way, factual information needn’t ever (and typically doesn’t) come into play.
Well done, Scott.

For lightweight. I spent my time on mountains in Viet Nam, with a “long rifle”. My son did Iraq and Bosnia, and elsewhere. His friends Afghanistan as well. When you learn to read, try the Constitution- Rush’s version is NOT what they wrote. Amending it is deliberately difficult to keep people like Reagan and Bush down a bit, though they used regulations to circumvent law, rather than law, to do their dirt. (I know, was there, saw it.)
If Scott is hitched, might show his posts to spouse, he will be in more trouble than John Wayne Bobbett.(love the irony of the name there)
As to the “moron” statement: I object to changing “pro” to “Genius” on the simple fact that: 1. too many morons seemed to gather impetus, and 2. tested well above that level a long time ago, and resent degrading a term applied to an intellect capable of processing information accurately, which a good number of right-wing whiners dubbed “genius” here totally lack.

you have yet to respond to my question, scott, what has the president done to violate the constitution?
Do not respond that he gave money to banks, that law was passed under Bush, and the Bush administration gave emergency loans to GM, too. Be specific, don’t rant, what are the actions of this president that violate the constitution?

800#, by subverting separation of powers by by passing Senate approval of Cabinet by appointing “czars” to run government from west wing. Acorn was part of it (and still would be running census) except for genetically stupid people in the organization.

oldlego, If appointing czars is unconstitutional, why wasn’t that raised when previous presidents going back to Carter appointed them? That charge doesn’t fly. I hadn’t read theat ACORN was doing census work, and I’m not defending them. If Obama is violating constitution, I’ll be amongst first to criticize. There is no evidence, just people who don’t like him and repeat anything they hear from any source with no evidence or even a specific charge.

800#, czars in previous administrations were appointed to oversee programs or policies not covered by cabinet positions or to coordinate between cabinets. BHO wants all of the control in his pocket. Acorn was going to run the census in urban areas so as to “find” the uncounted, unwashed minority voters to line them up for the Party and benefits.

Ballot intimidation. Asset utilization - every Acorn worker (paid off) is more likely to vote. Set aside altruistic attitudes about voting and you see how elections are won. And this is possible because of voter apathy. Get the American people stirred up and election shenanigans are less important.
