this is the right wing point that Obama called people who say there are death panels are liars elsewhere in his speech. But they are not equivalent. One Obama is right and Wilson is wrong. There is also a difference in saying those who say, and you are a liar.

I wonder that so many , such as Assay, can’t see the difference. There have to be rules of conduct or everything breaks down - so where and how you say things matters.

An example? My kid came from school and said his teacher had been a jerk. That’s okay. What would not have been okay is if he had said to the teacher during class, “You’re a jerk!” In that instance, I would let him sit in the principal’s office for quite some time before punishing him at home.

The comments above basically say, politely work with the system and let us run the government. Soros, ACORN, Michael Moore, Move-on etc have taught us confrontational advocacy gets results but that can only be a one-way avenue.

One lone Congressman shouting liar at our guy is horrendous but our BDS for 6+ years was simply politics at its best.

Maybe it is best not to go so quietly into the good night. Two days after Wilson the Democrats responded with a correction and victory for him.

Why can’t leftists EVER be intellectually honest—even for one moment? Just ONE moment?

Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the entire Demoncrat party consistently behave towards EVERYONE who disagrees with them, via the usage of the most over-the-top, vile rhetoric imaginable. The Demoncrats EXCEL at gutter politics; they constantly seek to not just discredit but to destroy every human being they possibly can, whom they view as being an obstacle to their Socialist agenda.

Yet while constantly engaging in the aforementioned nastiness, they look for every opportunity to play the victim card.

Case in point: One fed-up congressman–knowing full good and well that Obamacare WILL cover illegal immigrants due to there being no enforcement mechanisms in place to prevent it (the Demoncrats having earlier killed several proposed amendments which would have done this)–lost his cool for a moment and correctly identified Obama as willfully lying.

And wow, suddenly the Demoncrats and their allies in the media immediately go ballistic and act like as though together they HADN’T just spent the previous eight years belittling our previous P:resident on a daily basis in every disgusting and deceitful way imaginable.

I choose to call the Jackass Party “Demoncrats” because they are, in fact, willfully evil. They lie even when the truth would serve equally well. When they lie, they speak their native language.

And to single out Joe Wilson for uttering just two words, after the Democrats and their allies had already uttered countless MILLIONS of words which were far more “uncivil” (oftimes directly from the floor of Congress), again just shows how unspeakably evil and hypocritical the Donkey Party is.

God, how I wish that hopelessly corrupt Party would just DIE. Go vote Green Party you leftists, do the world a favor and get rid of that despicable, traitorous, treasonous Demoncrat Party before it ruins ALL of our lives…

How Dare he stand up and disagree at the wrong time. It makes them look bad when there well crafted misleading words are questioned. “Lie” well it is not here or there but I guess we will now have to maybe add some sort of check for illegals. Oh and by the way our last “lie” was yours also because we had to drop the “vet” style panels that we denied were in the bill also.
While we are at it our community organizer in chief was never a counter worker for ACORN. he just did work for them and spoke very highly of them but it would be a “LIE” to say he at one time ACORN was is only income.

You know full well the bill in no uncertain terms makes it illegal for any benefits described in the bill to go to illegal immigrants. I’d quote the language again but I’m sure you wouldn’t care.

I’d hardly call having a difference of opinion on enforcement mechanisms lying.

The only thing Wilson did wrong was to apologize at all.

    The truth needs no apology!

If Wilson wasn’t right, why did the Dems once again rewrite the eligibility section of the bill to include specific enforcement of exclusion rules.

  14. scottfreitas

    scottfreitasGenius_badge said, 2 months ago

no michael. “By their fruits you will know them.” The Republicans tried several times to add amendments to the Obamacare bill which would require that all people seeking NON-emergency medical treatment would have to show proof of eligibility–meaning proper ID, of a type that non-citizens could not legally possess.

The Demoncrats predictably killed every such attempt. Just as they’ve been doing with Voter ID for years now. Because illegal aliens vote Demoncrat, same as virtually all criminals do…

Your example illustrates how advanced is our tolerance for incivility.

Parents used to punish children for simply calling their teacher a jerk. Name-calling is wrong, period.

He should have said, “My teacher did something I thought was stupid.” Then you could have discussed it with him in a valuable teaching moment. If your son was right, you could have given him a life’s lesson in respect for authority even when authority acts stupidly. If your son was wrong, he owed the teacher an apology for misjudging him.

How can a child learn not to call a teacher a jerk to his face if you allow him to do it at home? (I would blame you if he did it.) You’re teaching him it’s all right to do wrong as long as you’re not caught.

The truth needs no apology, but the way we deliver it does. Apologies remove all the human baggage that give others an excuse not to listen to what we said because of how we said it. If they don’t accept our apology, it is a confirmation that what we said is probably true.

That is why the more the Dem’s kill the messenger, the more the people see him as speaking truth.

Ran into a guy in Reno who was coming back from “Burning Man”- he said he might be trying to help people, and maybe “over-compensating” for bad things he’d done. I told him “It is impossible to over-compensate by showing people kindness”.

It is obvious it is not in your miniscule mental power to over-compensate with anything but hate; biased, ignorant, and self-loathing hate.

    Lol @ anthony.

Yeah atheism has contributed so much to the world. The French Revolution sure showed us that much!

It is both illogical and stupid for an atheist to claim any moral superiority.

    Heck, any morals.

Throw out God, you got jack, genius. There ARE no morals.

Without God, there are only random bits and pieces of matter which somehow swarm together at times, for awhile, and accidently make talking apes and bananas and fleas and other stuff.

Under atheism, both Mother Theresa and Adolf Hitler are absolute equals. Neither one was in any way better or worse than the other.

Under atheism, all power comes from the barrel of a gun.

Under atheism, neither your words or thoughts mean anything. Nor do you. Nor does love, or hate. Nor does anything at all.

Basically, atheism is the conscious decision to adopt insanity as a worldview. To deny this is both illogical and anti-intellectual.

    Bon appetit!

Obama did speak of having a government panel of experts that would look at what treatments work and don’t work. They would also look at ways to cut cost. What better way to cut cost then to deny and 80+ year old a life saving treatment that is too expensive. Obama even told some lady at a town hall meeting that “maybe your Mom should take the pain pill instead of having the operation”. Man, talk about lack of compasion. And what gives him or anyother government a-hole the right to determine that?

Don’t forget that there’s no such thing as christian morality…there’s just a do-good-or-you’ll-be-punished mentality.

You do good only because you fear punishment. I do good because that’s how I evolved.

I do it naturally. You only do it to avoid hell.

    So who’s moral?

I just laugh! The Democrats accusations towards Wilson are just the pot calling the kettle black.

The same people that are on Wilson’s case about interrupting President Obama and calling him on his bluff are the same ones that booed President Bush. They are hypocrites. As long as Democrats do it, it is okay and it is justified no matter how foul the deed. Sadly, the Republicans have the same attitude toward their own.

Joe Wilson was out of line interrupting the President like he did…no question. However, Democrats need to step off of their high horse. Their past doesn’t speak any better of them than it does the Republicans.

  32. scottfreitas

    scottfreitasGenius_badge said, 2 months ago

Uh, no Anthony. you do not do “good”, because logically no such thing as “good” exists in your worldview. Nor can it.

I’m amused by this. Like most atheists / Darwinists, you do not seem to possess the critical thinking skills to understand your own chosen belief system. You want to borrow a uniquely “religious” term like “good”, and apply it to your fairy tale about apes who magically transform themselves into astronauts.

Doesn’t work. If Evolution is true, your words, your thoughts, your beliefs, your emotions, your EVERYTHING, mean nothing. You’re just a life support system for genes-genes which allegedly seek only to exist, even though they have no logical reason to want to, since there is neither meaning nor purpose to existance itself…

Scott maintains the completely sanctimonious worldview that any system of belief outside of his comfort zone (IE religion) is meaningless since he declares it to be so.

This addresses the common religious notion among the self appointed voices of GOD that those of us who don’t follow their particular (potential) theocracy among the many are worthless and should be ignored at best, discarded and/or abused (rendition anyone?) more likely by historic example.

Religion as justification for war is more than common, it’s THE prevailing formula. Declare that God (Your Particular Chosen God, of course) is on your’ side and that your’ enemy is without a soul and deserves to die.

But for those of us “Godless” who are tolerant of others, we’re the haters, right Scott? Our disapproval of your’ tactics allows you to declare that, at least among the “faithful” religious zealots.

Moral values aren’t some religiously generated, exlusive property of your’ (or any other) church, much as you’d like to think that.

Religiously inspired war is as likely an outcome of your’ belief system as of any other faith, Scott, don’t “preach” to “godless” others about love of humanity when simple observation shows that organized religion often generates complete intolerance that can (and often does) lead to hatred, destruction, and warfare.

  35. Anthony 2816

Anthony 2816Genius_badge said, 2 months ago

Scott is also making the common mistake that just because he is ignorant about something, that’s proof it doesn’t exist.

He has his own non-dictionary definition of “good”, for example, which is completely ignorant of the dictionary definitions (58 on dictionary.com)

Let’s see if you can wrap you religion-limited brain around this concept, Scott: “Good” behaviors and actions are those that help the species. “Bad” are those that hurt the species.

    No magical sky god necessary.

But don’t get me wrong: I’m not trying to take your religion from you. Since you believe that the only thing stopping you from murdering, raping, stealing, etc. is the threat of eternal punishment, I’d be scared to share the planet with people like you if you lost your faith.

(BTW, for someone who greets total strangers by telling them they’re incapable of reasonable, critical, abstract thinking, you sure lack reasonable, critical, abstract thinking…)

Yeah, maybe…Scott does stick around for more than one post, and points to him for that…but since he is being easily wedged into a corner here, I won’t hold my breath.

Specifically, he has yet to adequately respond to this post:

Scott, perhaps you could could also identify the parts of the of the Democrats’ bill that require us to kill our Grandmas?

    ————–

All Scott did was run Asay into the ground by saying “no reasonable person has ever made such a claim, short of allowing their emotions to at least briefly override their grey matter.” While I appreciate his support for the Democrat health care proposal, I think he’d be more honest if he just flat out agreed that Asay was basing his cartoon on right-wing lies.

And of course, see how outrageous his contention is that the only sort of human morals possible are rooted in some mythical sky god offering eternal damnation to any one who doesn’t do “good”.

    Welcome back Anthony

I don’t like dramatic “kill our grandmothers” but we will get even more rationing than we have now and that will be the consequence.

”. With cancer care, it’s more severe—Medicare is dismantling the delivery system. Medicare has decreased payments for the administration of lifesaving cancer drugs by over 25% since 2004 and is now planning to cut them by another 38%. Additionally, payments next year will be severely cut for diagnostic imaging and radiation treatment. Cancer clinics are increasingly struggling to treat patients while remaining viable.

Based on documented five-year survival rates, the U.S. has the best cancer-care delivery system in the world. However, Medicare is a threat to that record and needs to be fixed in health-care reform; extending its influence—for example, by basing a public plan on it—would have catastrophic implications for cancer care.
