Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

Re last whispered comment…
…say, does anyone remember a bloke looking a little stunned for about 7 minutes, holding a book about a goat upside down, just after someone asked him to get back to work. About, no, exactly 8 years ago.
Wasn’t it in a classroom, too?

Is there really anybody out there that naive who believes the president spoke to the children to actually try to get them to study harder and stay in school? Like Bush and Reagan it is and will always be part of a PR campaign every President does to get favorable publicity.

Really. Little Johnny, your just going to grow up to be a drunk drug dealer, so give it up now and quit wasting your time. And little Mary, you’re just going to end up in prison away, cause your dumb, and worthless.
Too bad a lot of kids hear this at home. You’re right bush, Reagan probably didn’t care, But I will be this naive , that I think Obama does care. You can go back believing that he’s a Kenyan.

Translation for mind-numbed liberals:
Obama and the entire Demoncrat party are ALWAYS in campaign mode. To them, EVERYTHING is political. They politicize funerals, natural disasters, personal and family tragedies, train and airplane crashes, you name it. It’s all about THEM, and furthering their own personal ambitions.
You sheep-like suckers who think the Demoncrats give a turd about either you or your lives are both endlessly amusing, and endlessly annoying. :/
Want a Demoncrat politican to acknowledge you’re alive? Fork over at least a few thousand in cash, and that’s just for starters…

Earth to CJ: try citing proof.
Reagan’s funeral would be a good example. Which GOP politicians politicized Reagan’s funeral?
Oh, that’s right… none. Compared to what the Demoncrats did all during Sen. Paul Wellstones funeral, and yet again just recently during Ted Kennedy’s memorial.
When has the GOP ever blamed a Demoncrat concerning a natural disaster? I remember a huge hurricane during Clintons term that trashed parts of Florida and other states, destroyed an entire air force base (which was never rebuilt), etc. GOP pols who uttered even ONE BAD WORD at any Demoncrats because of it? None.
And don;t forget how the Demoncrats have corrupted the judicial confirmation process, to the point that Bush lost 700+ federal judgeships–all of which Obama inherited. Funny how 3 years wasnt enough time to get Bush any judges, but Obama got all of his in 3 days.
The two parties are not the same. Any more than God and Satan are the same. Any more than light and darkness are alike.
Republican pols for the most part act like normal folks. Very few of them can even be considered skilled politicans, which is why poli-sci teachers labeled the GOP as being the “Stupid Party” way back during FDR’s day..
Oh, three guesses as to why those same poli-sci teachers labeled the Demoncrats as being “the Evil Party.” And the first two don’t count.

Alright, this cartoon is needlessly cynical and so is your comment, GNWachs. Believe it or not, there are people who really do care about inspiring young minds to become intellectually engaged. Republicans and Democrats both want kids to apply themselves.
And, scottfreitas, as long as you keep using that awful term (“Demoncrats”), your ideas will only be taken seriously by your fellow haters. It may be good for rallying the mean-spirited, but it does nothing to improve the actual situation on the ground. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Here is Obama’s and the democrats new slogan.
Yes we can provide federal protection over state laws for child molesters and all 597 forms of sexual perversion up to have sex with corpses.
Yes we can have another 50 million abortions.
Yes we can bankrupt the nation.
Yes we can turn the country over to the UN.
Yes we can cheat to win elections.
Yes we can have marriage between man and man, women and women, man and beast and women and beast.
Yes we can have a racist president and a racist on the supreme court.
Yes we can give 8 billion dollars to ACORN for future cheating on elections.
Yes we can have more votes for the democrats in a county than the entire population.
Yes we can further water down the academics at public schools.

Trying to manipulate me with feminist-style wording wont work, tpenna. The Demoncrats DESERVE the word I use for them, and why in God’s name the same party that started the Civil War–which nearly destroyed America and cost over 600,000 lives–wasn’t FORCIBLY disbanded during Reconstruction is anyone’s guess.
The Germans at least had the good sense to forcibly disband the Nazi party after it nearly trashed THEIR country, and started a mammoth war. Too bad Americans weren’t so smart, huh?
PS I don’t expect the weird assortment of liars, lunatics, and life’s losers who vote Demoncrat to switch over to the GOP. But why can’t they vote for ANY other party? The Green Party, even. I don’t care. Just wish the hopelessly evil and corrupt Donkey Party would die a well-deserved and long-overdue death, before it succeeds in destroying everything that is uniquely American… which is precisely what they are doing, and have been busy doing, from 1861-present.

I’m not trying to score brownie points, tpenna. Portray yourself as being morally and intellectually superior to me all you want–I don’t care. Unlike you, I’m not playing politics. I’m just speaking unvarnished truth.
If we were a nation of Laws, rather than Men–as our Founders intended–the Demoncrats wouldn’t ever win an election. But thanks to the cult of celebrity created by our publik skewls (skewls controlled by unionized Demoncrat women), aided and abetted by the piss-poor worthless “Social Studies” curriculums those same girl-government skewls use to brainwash people, the Demoncrats are free to destroy everything that made America different from the rest of the world.
And no amount of people like YOU who want to “play nice” with the moral illiterates who are today’s Demoncrats will ever change that…
ezdeb said, 2 months ago
OK, tpenna, hold up. You do not need to enter even one more keystroke in a conversation with someone like scottf.
In the adult world, anyone who uses statements like “Unlike you, I’m not playing politics. I’m just speaking unvarnished truth.” does not get to sit at the grown up table. Scottf has instantly identified his character. He hates feminism and democrats. He’s got his history talking points down, and ALL who disagree are demons. It’s tempting to ask him why “everything that made America different from the rest of the world” is NOT destroyed since the democratic party, um, WON the civil war he mentions, but it would be a mistake to follow up on that temptation.
You are correct that you never once see any of the avowed independents who comment here: gnw, peter, normie, oldad etc. take someone like scottf to task for his generalized, rabid, incoherent lies. I don’t really expect it of ANandy or Striper, for instance, but come on, people!

Ezdeb: George Orwell much?
EVERY state that seceeded from the Union was solidly, 100% Demoncrat. The Demoncrats were the PARTY of slavery (and still are, actually, they’ve just expanded it to include all of humanity.)
Republicans in slave States prior to the Civil War were tarred and feathered at best. Beaten, jailed, or killed at worst.
The Demoncrats have always been the party of thuggery, intimidation, and off-the-charts corruption. Every Demoncrat pol is just a selfish narcissist looking to enrich themselves at others’ expense.
Again, I don’t care about popularity here. I come here to see Chuck Asay display true wisdom.
Pretty sick of seeing such a good and Godly man as Chuck disparaged by fools who– in real life–aren’t worthy to bend down and untie his shoelaces.
Again, the Demoncrats didn’t win the Civil War. They LOST. And continued hating and persecuting their former slaves for many generations, clear up until Lyndon Johnson re-enslaved them all over again with his “Welfare” programs…

Hey, Chuck, ya forgot to put his portable teleprompter in the last panel! But we’ll forgive you….great strip!
ezdeb said, 2 months ago
Yeah, Bob! George W Bush didn’t always use a teleprompter or notes, huh?? When you watch a gwb speech where he’s reading from notes, his head moves, as if he’s looking around, but his eyes stay on the notes, reading ahead for 2-3 words, which he then states, looking up quickly. Then his eyes search for the notes, he pauses, repeats a couple of times till he finds his place again, and only when he gets to the easy parts, like “The Murkin people demand no less!!”, then he can look confidently around as people applaud. He practically has to use his finger to underline each word. And he STILL mangled the english language!
Bob, the current president writes his own speeches. He never used a hidden under-jacket feeder to feed him lines in a debate, like GWB did.
Could you quit chortling about teleprompters? It’s one of those old FoxNetwork snark issues that no one but old people still laugh at.
Oh, also, did you know that Abraham Lincoln WROTE DOWN the Gettysburg Ferkin Address, and then read from it during his speech? If teleprompters were invented, maybe you could have laughed at him, too.
You look old in your pic, Bob, but you talk like a middle schooler. But we’ll forgive you…great contribution!

The funniest thing about Obama is that his speech without TOTUS is so deliberate and slow as he crafts every word (and says UHH at every pause), and so polished when he uses the teleprompter. He even reads things twice sometimes to be thorough.

I don’t think Democrats are “evil” per se…I do believe Obama and his cohorts are foolhardy and profoundly mistaken; with the possibility of some severe psychosis or sociopathy hiding within the group…Most evil would be George Souros or a Jeremiah Wright. Jeremiah Wright gets the label because he is an obvious False Prophet or Heretic.

You said, “When has the GOP ever blamed a Demoncrat concerning a natural disaster? I remember a huge hurricane during Clintons term that trashed parts of Florida and other states, destroyed an entire air force base (which was never rebuilt), etc. GOP pols who uttered even ONE BAD WORD at any Demoncrats because of it? None.”
The reason for that is that the Republicans were put to shame by how well FEMA reacted to that storm and how stark a contrast that response was to the job they did under George H Bush (which was essentially the same job as was done under GWB in NOLA).
It was a ‘If you can’t say something bad, don’t say nothin at all” moment for the GOP.
Nobody blamed either Bush for the hurricane itself, they blamed them for being less than unprepared for something that they knew was about to happen.
I always will admire W. for what he done. It takes a very special man to take on that job and make his father look like he was good.
George H. was one of the worst top to bottom, front to back pizz poor. But his son! Holy God, Holy God! Thanks to his son, we all forget how bad the father was!
And George H’s Veep makes Sarah look electable!
Yeah, ole W. did OK. I wish I had a son that would do that for me.

The party of Lincoln that won the Civil War and freed the slaves is not the Republican party of today. The Democrat Party of the Civil War is not the Democrat Party of today. The philosophies of these parties flip flopped when the Dixiecrats finally left the Democrats in the 60’s during the Civil Rights Movement. It is sort of complicated.

And dont even ask him about affirmative action.

Democrats: Party of “Labor”(Post-Civil War); and as most union members were white, they distrusted and disenfranchised blacks and considered them competition. Republicans: Approached emancipation and race relations from their Puritanical/Transcendentalism background and pursued the adoption of such through political activism. Thus, I believe it is wrong to say that the philosophies “flip-flopped,” Zan. And also the Civil Rights Act was passed despite the Democratic opposition to it.

The moon landing and the Space Shuttle are ancient history… The Beatles are ancient history. Hugh Hefner is ancient history. Martin Luther King is ancient history. Ted Kennedy is ancient history. Rational Humanism is ancient history. Communism is ancient history. Having a country of , by, and for the people is almost ancient history, too.

While it’s fair to say that today is not the same as yesterday, that the conditions are not the same so the situations require different approaches, it’s also fair to say that people haven’t changed that much over the past couple hundred years or so, so we have something to learn from them.

Demoncrats craft special laws just for their lobbyist groups: so-called “minorities”, along with gays, feminists (aka women, since to Democrats the only women that exist are feminists), environmentalists, etc etc
This here so-called “racist”–me–is a typical Christian. Meaning: i know and believe there is just ONE race, the human race, and we’re ALL part of it.
Special laws for homosexuals, “minorities”, etc etc, are the REAL racism, the REAL racist policies. And y’all Demoncrats are the ones pushing this racism, not the GOP.

SCOTT, I have no interest in having a conversation with you, so let this be the last.
despite the “Senor” I am so White, that you have to put sunglasses on to look at me. So let me begin. First thing dont Feign your Christianity at me you phony, least God strike you dead. There are Too many passages in the Bible that talks about YOU.
“What you have done for the least of these, you have done for me” Then he (Jesus) go’s on to say, You who have not done this, Go Away from me, for I never knew you. If Jesus were alive today, you’d call him a Lib, a bleeding heart socialist. So get off it. You dont qualify as a Christen with all that hate in your heart.
Jesus dont care about politics, said give to Cesar what’s Cesar, and give yourself to God. He talked about a kingdom, but none here on earth. Stick with that. He said to treat other as you would like to be treated. Would you like to be submissive to your wife ? How do you think women feel about it ?
I’m sure you feel like you treat everyone right, but then you’re not a woman, nor of color, nor openly homosexual. It’s not how you treat them, it’s how you would like to be treated if you were them, to put yourself in their place. But You lack the ability to do that. Everyone contributes as much as you do, some more, but you wish to treat them differently for your own personal reasons, which I have already stated.
Good day baldy
PS, up until the 40’s both parties had their racist, The 2nd WW. helped to change that, when in despite of white people, Black, Brown, Asian and the American Indian, all fought for world freedom. And unlike the Republicans, the Democrats threw out the racist. And they were more than happy to move to the Republican party.

Thanks for calling me zan-it does sound better than deadheadzan- I am part of all that ancient history, being 66 years old and having lived through it and remembering very well the mood of the day. It never ceases to amaze me, how much we as a people have changed but also how some things remain the same. I cannot imagine a WASP President being subjected to the same indignities, the blatent calls to violence, as President Obama has faced. The country has a small percentage of racists who are extremely vocal, and potentially, extremely dangerous. I cannot imagine 30 years ago any citizen could openly carry a firearm into any proximity of the President. I think for someone to do so is risking a catastrophe, engaging in terroristic threats and inciting to riot. When the wing nut right go on a rampage, dead bodies are a result. We liberals are so law abiding concerning the need for the non violent approach, that we are taken advantage of. I believe that if the trend continues, gun laws should be enacted to address this issue.

hey senor: thanks for giving me another creepy, ugly glimpse into the twisted workings of the leftist mind.
you understand Scripture at least as well as a dog understands quantum physics, i see that much.
stop denigrating and lying about our glorious constitution, bringing up that tired, stale bleeep about “slavery”. not only were the majority of our founders NOT slave owners (may John Adams spit on you), but 600,000 men far better than YOU settled that issue once and for all more than a century ago–an issue which was as old as human kind ,and which you “liberals” still perpetuate today by seeking to make all of humanity slaves to sin, and to your Godless governments.
Nor is the US government Rome, fool of fools. it is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. jesus’s warnings about rendering to caesar apply to such a government not at all. all of jesus’s admonitions to people DO apply in such a government; and until deceitful liars like YOU started braying “separation of church and state”, americans enjoyed religious freedom, and christians served openly in congress and the white house, free to speak as christians and promote christian ideas.
now all that is gone. christians are mocked, reviled, lied about, demonized, accused, and forbade from exercising basic religious freedoms while holding public office. even the teaching of schoolchildren–a wholly christian concept in america, originated with absolutely no help from Godless fools at all–has been replaced by a Stalinist, atheistic propaganda machine which endlessly churns out mind-warped drones like YOU.
in short, dont lecture me about Christ, demon. and stop trying to twist him into serving your vile purposes. the defense of homosexual behavior, just for STARTERS, is utterly contemptible.
You leftists are monsters. like Satan, at best you merely twist Scripture out of context, while ignoring not just the true meaning but the 99%+ of passages you personally disagree with.

scottfreitas: I doubt Christians in this country can be considered persecuted, especially when in the majority. The problem I have is with your statement about promoting Christian values. I don’t appreciate groups trying to push their religious beliefs onto others, whether it be in areas such as abortion, where there can be true differences of opinion, or of the numerous groups who ring my doorbell insisting that only they have the “one true religion” which I must follow or risk rotting in Hell. That kind of action I truly resent. Don’t tell me what to believe. I don’t push my religious beliefs on anyone and have friends from several faiths and we all have mutual respect for one another.
