Sad how so many leftists consistently prove they are incapable of abstract thinking.
They fail to pick up on how the Demoncrats in the second panel predictably use a human tragedy in order to:
(1) Increase their own personal and political power
(2) By taking money from taxpayers in order to reward their lobbyist groups (union slash minority-owned construction outfits get most govt. bids, not to mention all the govt. bureacrats who handle the added revenues mostly vote Demoncratic)
(3) Gain favor with the leftwing MainStreamMedia, who always report “news” stories exactly as they are brayed from the Donkey’s mouth to all their little zombie viewers / readers
(4)I could go on but won’t because wasting text on leftists avails nothing. Billions of Bibles printed in countless different languages bear testimony to this sad fact…

The bridge was built in 1939 as part of a New Deal project, and no tax money was spent to keep it up since 1953. It corroded and fell through, and I guess Asay believes that jumping up and down and complaining about bureaucracy and “government” is the way to go. Those silly opportunistic Dems, trying to figure out how to pay for roads and bridges!

I’m confused. If the people elect officials running on a less government/less spending/less taxes platform, and government can’t therefore afford to pay for bridge maintenance and inspection, and a bridge collapses who’s fault is it again?

The explanation of raising taxes to pay for bridges and roads is much more simple than your psychotic drivel. Here in MPLS we had people passing the buck forever on fixing 35W (a major Fed highway btw) and whoops it fell down for lack of upkeep. Seriously, take your Lithium and come back to reality.

This comic is over two years old and points out how the public can’t understand how Highway inspectors can’t catch major structural defects like this.
It also points out how the left (with help from ALL media) constantly uses and magnifies crisis’ to advance a cause or raise taxes. Never let a good crisis go to waste according to Rahm Emanuel. Don’t get me wrong the Right does this as well (we could argue if it is to the same extent or not). The problem with raising taxes to react to every crisis is that there is so much pork, waste, and fraud in gov’t from both parties that it is never enough! They always need more more more to feed the beast.
Look at toll roads (ie: Illinois) that are supposed to be temporary, but never go away and tolls keep going up. Look at lotteries that are supposed to raise money for schools and relieve property taxes. Schools need more money and property taxes keep going up. The money filters away and never seems to all go for what it was designated for.

Do you know how roads and bridges are built ? First you have to have some money (TAXES), then a proposal, then contracts, then designers, and construction companies, all kinds of materials and equipment, and workers. And when it’s all done, the state maintains it. If you dont maintain it, it falls apart. Without Money (TAXES) you cant maintain it properly, and people (YOU) Die ! Someone you know, works for the state, and without Tax Money they would be out of work.

Failure of this bridge was two fold, Privately it was built with joint plates that were to thin, secondly money to build a new one (due to some people who cry like little brats over taxes, you know who you are, and YOU are RESPONSIBLE for this )

tea, Yes I work, and I work hard. My wife would say too hard. However, use your brain. Bridges are built and have to be maintained. When public funds are not available to maintain them, they deteriorate. How do you afford to fix them when they fail?
Perhaps we should get government out of the road and bridge business altogether and go back to those halcyon days when they were all privately owned and operated. Would that be better? What exactly is your proposal for the infrastructure when the money isn’t there?

I wanted to hear he-she rant over he she’s moral values. I’m sure he-she’s can find some bible scripture that will justify dishonesty, disingenuous, and stealing as SO many times before. Or he-she will just ignore it like he-she does with Anthony.
When puppy first signed up, HE said HE was 46 on HIS bio, but told Anthony to leave HER (puppy) alone, because SHE was a young GIRL, and it would be SEXUAL HARASSMENT. As many times that I’ve seen He-she go after Anthony, you just got to laugh.
Not only does he-she change names and avatars (like he-she has done to me and to Anthony) But changes age and sex ! multiple personalities is an understatement, puppy needs his-her own zip code.

Is it just me, or does Assay’s “It Used To Be/ Now It’s” or “Sometime In The Not-Too-Distant Future” etc, schtick remind anyone else of that tired old “They’ll Do It Every Time” comic?
