Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Yes this country would be very different if the press had done it’s job in the run up to the war, and the run up to the economic crash.
Humphries, the unchristian christians did have something to do with my rejection of christianity.

Corosive Frog said, 3 months ago
^ I don’t believe in the lake of fire, I’m more of a believer in Karma; think about living many lives over and over like a broken vinyl disc…for eternity.

Corosive Frog - Maybe if you’re really good you’ll only have to go through that cycle of death, suffering, and rebirth one time before you reach Nirvana.
senorbullwinkle - No Jet skiing, power boating, love, hope or, adult beverages.

I wonder why the Acorn guy is covering his face. He did not have to sneak in. Shoot Obama should be shown signing checks and handing them to the guy. The union and trail lawyers i am sure Obama told them the keys were under the mat.

‘666 guy’, you misspelled “Asay,” there’s only one “s”
and
you inserted an apostrophe in the word “its” which does not belong, as the use of “its” in this case is possessive, not a contraction.

This portrayal of Obama is just plain silly. If anything he hasn’t been progressive enough. As far as acorn, unions, and even trial lawyers they are puny and powerless compared to the Wall Street bankers and assorted fat cats that make 300 times the salary of the average worker. We need the regulation of the Glass-Speigal act that was abolished in the late ’90s.

Behond the American press—from watchdogs to lap dogs. At least under Bush they tried to hide it. Now they seem to be proud of it.

“This would be a very different country if the press just did its job.”
True: we would not have gone to war in Iraq, and chances are, Bush would not have be “elected” in the first place.
Copperdomebodhi said, 3 months ago
David - would that be the same American press who is STILL covering the ‘birther’ story?
churchillwasright said, 3 months ago
COPPER: The only reason the press covers this so much is it makes a small, nutty fringe group representative of anyone who disagrees with Obama policy in general. It is an attempt to marginalize anyone not on “Team Obama”.

Yep, it is the same media. They get desperate enough and they’ll scrape to report anything. Or is it manipulation like churchill suggests? It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if both assertions were true. The media abandoned its responsibility decades ago…to be the people’s watchdog and to keep people abreast of what is happening in their government.
Why else would the freedom of the press be important enough to be included in the bill of rights? The media has great potential to keep people informed and bring hidden things out into the light. It also has great potential to be a propaganda machine serving only the interests of the highest bidder.
Apparently those who were supposed to be America’s watchdogs didn’t ask a very high price to be bought off.

For those who look to the past for the comfort of a free and vigilant press I offer the following set of excerpts from Thomas Jefferson’s writings and spoken quotes. The early sections of this collection may be quite familiar. I believe you might find the later sections of equal interest.

I pay tons of taxes, NoSpam, but I still do fine. No worries.
WestTex13 said, 3 months ago
So would 15% Income (10% Fed, 3%State and 2% County) with a 5% Consumption (3% Fed, 2% State) be unreasonable.. We really shouldn’t be paying more than 20% of our income in taxes either way. I think though the government should have to do what everyone else does, plan, budget and pay off debt.. The going in deeper into debt needs cut off.. Bush Screwed up, but at the rate we’re going we’re likely to make that a minor spike on a descending value chart if we don’t work some common sense moderation into the plan..
Anthony 2816
said,

Is the government paying off debt even possible? Economics has always been my weak point, but with all the trillions being bandied about, it seems a 100% income tax wouldn’t be enough.
WestTex13 said, 3 months ago
Its really not Anthony but we can reduce it.. Its actually beneficial to have a certain amount of debt ratio to circulate money, but too much debt creates a downward spiral..
I wish I had an answer but I don’t.. My Great Grandfather had a personal family solution that worked for him and though once I was too young and dumb to listen.. I eventually started using it.. Things turned around for me.. Its based on “Only things you should use credit to get are a house, car, washer/dryer. Anything else, save up ti’ll you can pay cash” I.E. credit only what you have to have to get and hold a job and to make money to buy things you want. Everything else can wait until you afford it.. It works on a micro economic scale.. Perhaps America has become too dependent on the quick easy credit fix instead of learning how to manage money..
So perhaps the answer is just being more fiscally responsible. Something neither Bush or Obama pushed for.. Trillions .. bleh

Again, use small words for me here, but unless I’m mistaken, isn’t our total tax income, or for that matter, our GNP, less than the interest alone on our national debts?
If so, how can we even reduce it?

People say this should have come out about 8 years ago.
Maybe it should have… but it didn’t (I think). The point is, even if
people missed their opportunity 8 years ago, at least Mr. Assay is getting the message out this time. What would you have him do, not publish this cartoon simply because he didn’t draw one just like it eight years ago?
