   Seriously, who ELSE will now try to chime in to try to convince the public how kewl and safe and great SUVs are? Maybe if the US automakers had invested all that effort in making marketable cars they’d still be around.

   I usually like Chucks cartoons, but he dropped the ball on this one.

   No one would trade in a good car to buy a new one, he failed to mentioned that this is a moneymaking opportunity for people.

   Go to a junk yard, buy the ugliest pile of bleeep that can barely make it to the dealer for about $200, and trade ‘r in for $4200!!!!!!!! Talk about a great discount.

   I also heard that you’re in no obligation to buy a new car with the $4200. Is that true?

   harley: Perhaps the conservatives (and I’m including those that call themselves “conservatives”) should’ve thought about that when they spent this country into the ditch while reducing revenue.

   Now we either cut services which will steer us into a death spiral or we spend money on things that will create jobs which will, eventually, pull us out.

   Which do you prefer?

   With idiotically oversized SUVs going for about half the sticker price, I think Detroit is finally getting the message? I’ve got a ‘91 “SUV” that has always gotten roughly twice the gas mileage of these pigs, AND it’s been boulder hopping in the desert for 17 years, gone though blizzard depth snows, and barely seen a freeway- the exact opposite “life style” of most of these pigs. It’s the way Americans buy vehicles they do NOT “need”, but satisfy their egos, or aggressions. Hummer pilots ARE DANGEROUS!

    Sure D lets spend billions and trillions we do not have on magical green jobs. The government is not allowed to make a profit so how in the world is it going to spend it’s way out of dept with our money?
    Unemployment will not go over 8% if we keep spending…
    Lets do like Spain and spend money on “green” jobs and end up with 18% unemployment.
    Oh I know lets take more money out of the hands of private hands and put it into government based on “the polluters”
    
    We can “save or create” 3.5 oops make that 2 no 1 no.. we have saved or created 1500 jobs right Joe?”

    I heard, about a week ago, about how the RNC , or the GOP, or one part of the republican party was PAYING people to get on sites and argue the talking points. EVEN posing as two different posters as to carry on a conversation about their party. HARLEY if your not getting paid you should. You should look into it.

    If enough smaller cars, which must be more fuel efficient, are bought and used (and while we’re at it, we take more public transport , walk or cycle where possible), AND the number of SUVs taking to the road will fall thus making their overall percentage of the total smaller than the “smaller” cars, the argument that they’re safer in a collision (“‘cos it’s physics, duh!”) because there are more of them on the road and the likelihood of smacking into one is greater, becomes moot.

    And you’ll have a country where the cars are more fuel efficient and as safe as in Japan or Europe (and rest of world).

    And you’ll be more energy independent from foreign fossil fuels. Double advantage!

    The very idea that one must drive in a large vehicle to be safer is crazy. Why don’t we all get tanks?

    Then again I am not with either party and there are only two issues I care about. One is debunking the phony religion of “Climate Change”. The other is FAIR TAX.!!!!
    I also preach that the Muslims that want to live in the present should be supported! They are the ones that need to expel those who wish to wage war on us.

    I cant remember where I heard it. It could have been Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Stephanie Miller, or ED. I’m not sure. Maybe someone else heard it too. If you did, let me know. I wanted to know which part of the party it was, so I can read it.
