Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

Though I should say I still object to the use of the term “killing”.

Good on Asay - this is the first ‘toon of his I’ve seen that suggests moderation from the most wing-nuttiest-possible view.
BUT - when Republicans talk about their 2nd Amendment rights, they always bring up the killer on the rampage who must be stopped. Now, they’re trying to say that fetuses are human beings with constitutional rights and that abortion is murder - AND that shooting abortion doctors is wrong. They can tone down their rhetoric, or they can have their followers shooting M.D.’s, but they can’t have it both ways.

I’ll second tpenna – well said. And I’m pleasantly surprised to find myself agreeing (mostly) with Assay.

Yup, a good cartoon. I don’t understand why “medical facts” and “science” are on the shelf but its hard to quibble.

No, sorry, who are you to say who are the “true pro-lifers?” Your own cartoons, and articles by Neocons by the score, argue that peaceful Muslims, even if they disavow the extremists in their group, should still not be allowed to disassociate themselves from the violent fringe. By your own argument, the ballot box pro-lifers and the ammo box pro-lifers are all part and parcel of the same movement, and the “peaceful” members of the movement cannot be allowed to claim they are not related to the terrorists in their midst.

Chuck does get it right, but keep in mind that many of these “pro-life” voters are of the “if they can’t take care of ‘em, they shouldn’t have had ‘em” ilk and consistently oppose spending tax dollars on aid to the disadvantaged kids who aren’t aborted. If your concern ends at the exit of the birth canal, you’re merely “pro-birth”.

Surprisingly strong front view from Asay, but reading the titles, and the labeled “education” TV behind the ballot box, distorted science, logic, and “education” are not shunned.

I agree. This cartoon says it all.
@Michael: They’re on the shelf because the cartoon is saying these are factors to use to argue your case, as opposed to shooting doctors.
@dsped: Quite right, however many voters on both sides of the fence also use bad, ineffective or miscalculated arguments.

Well said, dsped. I don’t know what gocomics means by that green “genius” label, but it’s right this time.

2 voting has turned futile because of the courts

Onje of the very few Asay cartoons that haven’t led me to make remarks like “That moron is at it again.”

good cartoon, but how about birth control too? tho it’d be a distracting image for this toon.
