Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

Interesting that Asay screams when Obama gives bailout money, but never uttered a peep when Bush did it.
I’m also uncertain about the comments in the lower right. He’s saying that if everything goes according to plan, and GM recovers and buys back from the government, “then everyone loses”???
Sounds like he starting to follow Rush, and hoping that America fails.

A lot of people use the phrase “free market”. A free market has never existed or will exist anywhere.

good point, satipera2. Besides, our “free market” system didn’t work so well for GM et al up to now, did it Mr. Asay? It’s amazing how, according to rightwingers, Pres Obama will not, cannot and must not do anything good at all. All bad. Everyone loses all the time. sheesh.

2008 Bush deficit $400B
2009 Obama deficit $1.8T
2010 Obama deficit $1.8T+
Anthony screamed when Bush did it but loves it now that the money is being given to groups he favors.
This deficit does not even take into consideration Medicare or Social Security deficits. This does not consider the proposed universal health care deficit.
Todays NYT has an article on how interest payments for the current deficit are hurting the economy. When we quadruple the deficit who will pay?

It says something about Asay, and about me, that Mr Monopoly is sitting there as the representative of “Free Market”.
I give Asay credit. Its a well drawn likeness that quickly connects his audience with a concept. I’m big on practicality and efficiency that drawing covered both.
However….I associate Mr Monopoly with Ma Bell, Microsoft, and Standard Oil. It won’t surprise me a bit if Mr Asay were to come out and say (Dana Carvey voice) “In my day we didn’t have PushButtonPhones. There was one phone, it was black, it was rotary dial, it was the only model the phone company LET you have, and we LIKED it!”
I don’t want him to win the poker game. It may not be the way Chuck sees it but its what his drawing produces- to me.

How appropriate that the “Free Market” character is drawn as a Monopoly baron!

The problem is the “free market” has been betting recklessly on a nine high hand of nothing.(Reaganomics) While I don’t like bailing out the fraudulent, corporate thieves, they caused a problem for all of us, with complicity from Bush et al. At least Obama is working with a full deck.

I’ve already shown that this claim is flawed yesterday. Do I need to repeat why again?

Anthony,
I agree with you 1000%. Amazing Andy was so silent for the 8 years Bush was at the helm and ruining our Great Nation.
Not one Peep from Andy when Bush Bailed out Wall Street and AIG International. Not One Peep when Bush failed to Kill Osama. Not one Peep, Nothing, now he is all upset that Obama has not been able to correct the mess he and Bush both created in his first Five Months in Office. Yes, Typical Flawed Conservative Logic, they will never blame their own party for this mess. (Note I blamed Obama for his helping Bush Create this mess when he was in the Senate Voting for reckless spending bills Bush readily inked.

Both parties are the problem.
