Y’know, I constantly hear Republicans whining about how the media support Obama, but I never hear one of them ever explaining WHY it’s a bad thing. Just because you’re losing? Are you against freedom of speech in SOME instances, like THEIRS? What do you intend to DO about it: just cry a lot or do you have some solutions?

Simple, I expect the media to give a far shake to any one. And not turn a blind eye to a flash in the pan. There were more lawyers and research journalist looking into Sara in Alaska then ever looked into the back room Chicago political machine that spawned a done nothing Presidential wana be.
When they stop asking R’s “when did you stop betting the unarmed captured guy?” and the ones with D’s “oh great one what makes you so great?”
Then maybe I could take one of those so called journalist seriously!

  6. DrCanuck

    DrCanuck said, 6 months ago

Harleyquinn, you haven’t answered my question. Are you of the opinion that the responsibility of the media is to live up to “your” expectations or to have “you” take them seriously? So who are “you”? Again, you’ve whined quite convincingly, but you’ve never said WHY it’s bad, or WHAT you would do about it. Try again.

Harleyquinn, you haven’t answered my question,……. but you’ve never said WHY it’s bad, or WHAT you would do about it. Try again.

When one side gets all this free press and then cries because someone said a bad thing about there guy. I am a little worried. I look at the problem and can see how distorted one side is against the other?
When I see another country banding one of our talk show host from entering? something does not smell right?
Someone who wants both sides is a good thing. Someone who is a cheerleader is no good for finding out what really is what and what is all flash smoke and mirrors.
What I am going to do is watch the guys who only faun over the BIG O wither on the vine. Hopefully when the BS hits the knees the USA might wake up and find “news” elsewhere.

  8. DrCanuck

    DrCanuck said, 6 months ago

Oh, OK, Harleyquinn; I’m starting to understand you now. You want to deny the media their First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and opinion. THEY have to present both sides, while only YOU may hold an opinion. Which other parts of your Constitution do you disagree with?

  9. Anthony 2816

Anthony 2816Genius_badge said, 6 months ago

Harley, why don’t you just stick to Fox News and Rush Limbaugh? That way you won’t irritated by any of the good things Obama is doing (because you won’t know about them), but you’ll feel good knowing all the bad things he’s doing, and how much better off the country would be if Cheney and Rove were still in charge.

  10. Michigander

At least President Obama has a good sense of humor. If you disagree, it is probably for political reasons, right?

Anthomy You can stick with everyone else and never here the good things we we doing in Iran.
I will listen to Fox, Rush is a blow hard but right. And I look at everyone else till I start seeing cheerleaders instead of reporters, then I turn them off.

  12. harleyquinn

    harleyquinnGenius_badge said, 6 months ago

So Dr? what is your solution? media matters watch dog? I say let them all talk and hopfully the real reporters will get thru and the cheerleader will just fade away. I want to know what is going on and not just the lasted how gret the great leader is.
What does that have to do with #1? I say free market is winning over.

Folks, HQ is exhibiting internet troll activity. You know, make an outrageous statement and watch how many people you can get to jump. We really won’t ever be able to get him to discuss anything in an honest straightforward way.

Harley: “You can stick with everyone else and never here the good things we we doing in Iran.”

    (I’ll assume you meant Iraq.)

Ah, then I see you’re already taking my advice, and not listening to any of the mainstream news services, or you’d know they do indeed report the “good things”.

So why do you think we should be spending billions of dollars and thousands of lives to do good things in Iraq?

  15. harleyquinn

    harleyquinnGenius_badge said, 6 months ago

“Folks, HQ is exhibiting internet troll activity.”
this is way out of line? I have not in the least. it is not like I take someones words out of context and use them to insult like the guy who made this statement., not here but elsewhere.
Troll?? you wish then maybe you could dismiss some of the points I have brought up! I am dealing with the cartoon and calling a lot of the “media” cheerleaders. And a troll is making person attack.

Simple Anthony. Now that we have shown them the heal of our boot it is time to reach out to the ones that can end this.
The only ones that can end the crazy Muslim extreme suicidal are other the ones that are either afraid of us or see the wisdom in working with us.

But when the white house cheerleaders follow the white house orders that we can not mention “terrorist” or “Muslim” they become ineffective of doing any good. If you can not label the bad guys, bad guys then who are you trying to work to your side?

I think the issue is not about free speech, the issue is about the media performing it’s role as watching out for what government does regardless of who is in power.

Ideally, the media would treat all in the government with the same scrutiny because that is when the media actually helps to protect the people from the government.

It’s ok if there are elements in the media that support a particular party (the media is made up by people as well) but the media does need to do a better job of segregating objective reporting from rendering opinions.

The fact that some people say that MSNBC, CBS, etc are biased to the left and that Fox is biased to the right I think denotes that there is a problem.

Regardless of the media outlet, the media has a responsibility to report accurately and honestly and use the same energy in investigating and reporting regardless of party affiliation, and until it does so, it will continue to lose respect from all rational citizens.

  20. Anthony 2816

Anthony 2816Genius_badge said, 6 months ago

You’re looking at this too superficially, Harley. The question is not asked under the assumption that we’ve always been at war with Iraq, and what we should do to end it. The question is why have we wasted billions of dollars and thousands of lives engaging in the only unprovoked attack we’ve ever made on another country?

There was absolutely no reason for us to squander those resources doing “good things”. And if you claim they were, then we should also prepare to attack many other countries like North Korea, where we could also waste money and lives doing “good things”. Should that be our role in the world?

  21. deadheadzan

    deadheadzanGenius_badge said, 6 months ago

First we went in to Iraq because of “WMD’s”, then it was “to free the Iraqi people”. Billions of dollars and thousands of lives wasted, including Iraqi civilians to separate Iraq from it’s oil.

Don’t worry about wasted money…Obama and Pelosi have eclipsed the Bushies pathetic aspirations.
You should feel proud that the Libs are ganging up on you HQ, and that you are now a”troll”.
While googling today I came across a CNN headline: “Why listening to Obama is like having Sex.”
Also, I’m temporarily changing my avatar in honor of my sister and her new baby boy. I am now “DameIcyStare”.

Anthony, while our attack on Iraq was clearly unprovoked and immoral, I am fairly certain it was not our only one. Just under Woodrow Wilson (who might compete with W for worst president), we invaded Mexico (1914), Haiti (1915), the Dominican Republic (1916), Cuba (1917), and Panama (1918). In addition, Wilson sent troops to Vladivostok in 1918 to fight the Red Army. None of these had attacked or even threatened the US.

  26. deadheadzan

    deadheadzanGenius_badge said, 6 months ago

no fear, there’s gotta be a reason you are constantly changing your name and avatar- could it be that you crave attention? Why honoring your sister and new baby would result in the moniker “dame iceyetc” I can’t comprehend- maybe it is a joke between siblings.

nomad2112; you, too, are missing my point. They are “supposed” to be objective. Who says? Is their job all about living up to YOUR expectations? Why are THEY not allowed to have a point of view or the right to express their opinions? Would YOU deprive them of these rights? And if they are biased, what do you propose to DO about it (other than whine that they’re not)?
