    Sooky Rottweiler says;
    My new years resolutions are fine. I only barked at the mailman when he brought the MC bill, took a table spoon of bacon fat every morning since new year (which was quite hard to find, considering my human’s new years resolution) and woke up my human this morning.
    …still haven’t managed to catch my tail, though.

    But only about 60 percent of the Obama plan consists of public spending. The rest consists of tax cuts — and many economists are skeptical about how much these tax cuts, especially the tax breaks for business, will actually do to boost spending. (A number of Senate Democrats apparently share these doubts.) Howard Gleckman of the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center summed it up in the title of a recent blog posting: “lots of buck, not much bang.”

    After 8 years of Republican fiscal mismanagement (to put it charitably) and a doubling of the deficit, Asay rightfully places the blame squarely where it belongs…. on the new administration that has yet to take office. He also repeats the irrefutable truth that only Democrats waste your tax $s. Bill Clinton clearly demonstrated that with his late term budget surpluses.

    Don’t get me wrong, the Dems are just as likely to spend beyond our means as the Reps, but 20+ years after Reagan (and on the heels of Paulson shoveling several 100s of billions into banks without a shred of accountability), I am baffled that Asay and his ilk still try to assert that GOP=fiscally conservative. It is to laff.

    Good point, Goslim. It’s time for Republicans like Asay to stop telling lies, and apologize.

    To Mr. Asay: So what do you suggest instead of a stimulus package? Maybe we should deregulate the markets, offer subprime loans to boost the housing market, and repeal all our environmental protection laws to help our beleaguered corporations (who should also get more tax breaks and tariff protection to help them compete with superior products overseas). Speaking of overseas, let’s send millions of jobs there to save money, too. I mean, all of these things have been proven to work during the last eight years, right?

    Or maybe we should just try another huge Ponzi scheme (as long as it passes SEC approval for several years).

    You know, I’m getting pretty sick and tired of the failure of ANYBODY to accept responsibility for anything! It’s always the Dems or the Repubs or the Israelis or the Arabs or anybody but ME! Grow up before all Hell breaks loose.

    THank you fennec. That’s part of the root of the problem. Nobody’s willing to accept responsibility for their own (in)actions. Time to grow the he77 up and act like adults!
