Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

only Chuck could find a positive from this news story…the press has reported that the reporter has been beaten and has broken bones, so a big improvement, eh bushie? I only wish the media treated him as badly as he needed to be treated during these past 8 miserable years. Bush is so clueless that he doesn’t even understand the significance of the thrown shoe and doesn’t care…so myopic and self centered.

The irony is, he’s being tortured by the Iraqi guards, which is exactly the same way he would be treated by the US, so it’s evident that we HAVE exported our style of democracy to Iraq, or at least, we imported theirs.

If a member of the American press corp. ever threw a shoe at Bush, at least there would have been some reaction against the head of our organized crime family!!! Asay doesn’t get it! The press only threw soft balls. That’s why Bush-Cheney will never go to jail for their war crimes!!!

Bush said the guy did it ‘to get on tv’… Bush also said, ‘I don’t know what his beef is’. Is he really that clueless or completely disingenuous? Either option is chilling.

goslim, “clueless” sums it up pretty well. W lives in his own little world of “yes” men. Remember when a reporter asked him about gas nearing $4 a gallon… “where did you hear that , I haven’t heard that…”

This is the same idiocy that says: “our troops are dying to defend your 1st Amendment rights, so stop using your 1st Amendment rights.”

He missed twice throwing at a stationary object, he would have been a natural pitching for Boy George’s Texas Rangers.

Actually, Bush dodged the first shoe nimbly. Too bad his intellectual reactions aren’t so deft. Remember how long it took him to break away from ‘My Pet Goat’ on 9/11? Or his non-reaction to Katrina? Or nearly every other disaster of his admin? This will be the iconic goodbye moment of the Bush years.
BTW, notice how Chuck has the shoe tosser carried off in by an admiring crowd? Interesting that Asay sees the Iraqis as likely to celebrate this man. Begs the question of Chuck, why would he be so popular in a country that Asay would have us believe is overwhelming grateful for our liberating them? Not to mention the fact that the shoe thrower is in custody, will likely be prosecuted harshly, and is rumored to have been severely beaten. Some hero’s reception.
