Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

“Ah yes, we forgot about the unintended consequences again. Oh, well, at least OUR taxes won’t go up!”
Machado said, about 1 year ago
America compare the candidates and send the Socialist empty suit packing!!!!!!
CAPITAL GAINS TAX
MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.
OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales.
(How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)
DIVIDEND TAX
MCCAIN
15% (no change)
OBAMA
39.6%
(How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying=2 0nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that ‘Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.’)
INCOME TAX
MCCAIN
(no changes)
Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250
OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750
INHERITANCE TAX
MCCAIN
OBAMA
Restore the inheritance tax - Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.
NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA
New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet.
New gasoline taxes.
New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)
New taxes on retirement accounts.
New taxes to pay for socialized medicine.

Well…I am proud that you are at least looking at more issues now. But you still mainly revealing your paranoia and your tunnel vision blinding you to the hopes, aspirations and real concerns of the American People.

The claim that many family businesses, farms, etc., have been lost due to the estate tax (not inheritance tax, to be technical) is an urban myth. Few, if any have (the current code contains favorale provisions permitting breaks on valuation and extensions of time to pay taxes, if any are generated - none are typically generated if there is a surviving spouse).
And by the way, Bush did not repeal the estate tax except for persons dying in 2010 - in 2011 the tax reverts to its pre-2001 level (unless Congress acts).

More lies and not even vaguely funny ones. http://www.barackobama.com where is posted complete details on the Obama policy intentions. Given that it is George W. Bush and his republicons who have bankrupted the U.S. this even comes across as stupid.

Chuck says:… “ok, it’s halloween, let’s scare the heck out of the ignorant americans who cannot read Obama’s plan and then rely solely in what FAUX news, Limburguer and the Rove machinery have to say…”

Machado - zzzzzzzzz
Instead let’s tell everyone that they never need to pay taxes, and then cut all government programs out entirely - except the military of course - and then contract that out to the lowest bidder instead of hiring our own, and then let them charge the American people for the privilege. PHFTFTFTF.
Either we as a people own responsibility for the issues of running a society (health, education, environment, defense) and PAY our government to manage those services, or we can simply privatize EVERYTHING, and make somebody ELSE rich doing them for us. And, oh yeah, they’ll be more interested in how much profit they make than in how good their service is.
Yeah, I want a dose of McSame’s Corporate Feudal Fiefdoms. It’s worked so well so far. Small business my foot. It’s about supporting Corporate Empires - period.
And Heaven Forbid (says the atheist) that we build a society where we are actually capable of discussion which leads to compromise versus foot-stamping “I’m Right and You’re Wrong!”. We collective sound like a bunch of five year olds on the playground…
Grrr…going back to my happy place now.

curiosity1 is so right… without regulation the fox will be guarding the chicken house ( a corny line, but this is a CARTOON site ). For McCain not to want to touch the military budget speaks volumes. It’s the first place I’d audit for wasteful spending and don’t give me that “defense” crap… I’d love to be making what the guy does who has the bottle water concession in Iraq!

Machado shame on you for typing to many words for the Obamabots to read!
Don’t you know they rather have their feelings about Obama then facts? The next thing you’re going to do is have them actually research his policies somewhere else other than Obama’s website!
INSANITY!

Laugh at TGS too, since he bought it hook line & sinker.
TheGreatSatan said, about 1 year ago
Or how about we laugh at you for quoting factcheck.org?
You do know that factcheck.org is owned by the Annenberg challenge right? The very same foundation that Obama’s friend and terrorist Bill Ayers is in charge of.
You’re just another “useful idiot” for that nutjob. Let’s laugh at you for having no opinion of your own instead!

TGS – It’s the The Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania, not to be confused with the Annenberg Challenge which was a completely different part of the foundation, NOT associated with Ayers at all.
So you spitting out talking points versus me doing google searches… which one of us has no opinion of his own? Or do you have issues with ALL the links that I posted?

Obama Is Da Man said, about 1 year ago
More racist fearmongering from the neocons. Why do they lie and try to fool people that Obama will only tax the filthy rich who make too much money as it is. It is high time for some economic fairness and President Obama will make it happen. They cannot stop us! We are ahead in all the polls! McLame will be defeated! Oxycontin Rush is crying!
Go Obama!

Only people like you would think that one part of a foundation has nothing to do with the other.
lalas said, about 1 year ago
TGS Only people like you are so paranoid as to ignore how large foundations work.
I’m sure they fall under the supervision of some very-high-ups but I don’t believe Ayers walked the ladder, out of Chicago to PA to tell a University how to do their jobs.
lalas said, about 1 year ago
And nice job of ignoring the other 4 links I posted.

If most people knew just what the Capital Gains Tax is, they’d demand it be at least 50%.
