A bit of an over-reaction here. If you read the decision, the SCOTUS did indicate that continuing to enforce voting rights based on 50 year old data had to stop. There was no mention of anything wrong with enforcing voting rights based on new data.

The decision didn’t even bother to cite a part of the constitution that the law broke, because they couldn’t come up with one. And somehow Alito insists that it was perfectly constitutional, and even admirable, until it began to work, but since it’s working, now it’s unconstitutional. By this logic, once seatbelt laws lower the rate of car accident deaths, they become unconstitutional. The decision doesn’t even TRY to make any logic, it’s purely a partisan effort to overturn the rights of minorities to stop voter intimidation until after it has happened. Welcome to a new Jim Crow era.

I have posted on this subject before.

Let us say that you decided to move to Florida, and you would like to vote.

    You need:

    {1. your birth certificate

    2. your social security card

    3. TWO proofs of residence

    4. some substitute, like a passport}

I will use the term {same} to represent these requirements.

You also need $25 for an ID or $54.25 for a drivers license.

Let us say you are :

    Woman just married, {same} $25 or $54.25

    Woman just divorced {same} $25 or $54.25

    Anyone just moved {same) $25 or $31

My favorite, if you are homeless, I don’t know if you can vote, but pay $25 plus $6.50 service fee for an ID.

Then you can register as a Republican or Democrat, and only vote in those primaries.

Early voting, voting by mail, is different for each county.

Each county sets up its precincts to have white people vote quickly and dark skinned people to wait up to 8 hours to vote.

I do not see how the Supreme Court ruling will change much.

So, without looking it up, I’m gonna guess Britt is too young to remember Birmingham. This is like a Holocaust comparison — clever unless you know what you’re talking about.

Those who are getting their thong in a wad about this were completely out to lunch when members of the black panthers stood outside a polling place with billy clubs calling people crackers. The Panthers are nothing more than klansman with different halloween costumes.
