You’re right. The Second Amendment is clear on the issue. Everyone should have a right to own as many weapons as possible. If they use them to hunt humans, that’s the price we have to pay as a “polite society”. We can call it collateral damage.

And that part about “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness”? Sorry about your bad luck. My right to shoot my gun trumps your right to live.

Why can’t any of these constitutional scholars get this?

I was highly amused by this entry in the NRC autopsy of the election:
    -
“We have to blow the whistle at corporate malfeasance and attack corporate welfare. We should speak out when a company liquidates itself and its executives receive bonuses but rank-and-file workers are left unemployed. We should speak out when CEOs receive tens of millions of dollars in retirement packages but middle-class workers have not had a meaningful raise in years.”
    -
They expressly DID NOT SAY that current Republican office holders should support or propose legislation or even provide oversight to prevent or deter these kinds of events.
    -
So, we need to really, really decry these happenings even though our legislators set the stage and our contributors executed the process. Really.

Leftists, NRA members, about 80% of the people? They are saying “yes” deep background checks are reasonable and common sense as I do.

Ironic since mammoths were more highly evolved than the present elephants. Even so it didn’t save them from whatever calamity killed off the mega fauna which is still unknown. (No it wasn’t humans.)

guns prevent MANY more crimes than they are used to commit.

“My right to shoot guns trumps your right to live.” No one on either side of this issue would believe such a statement. This sort of hyperbole voids any other points you might be making in this comment.

“This sort of hyperbole voids any other points you might be making in this comment.”

Thank you for catching my point. When I say, “What can we do to reduce gun violence?” the answer is always the same: “You ain’t taking away my guns.”

Perhaps if there is ridiculous hyperbole on both sides, both sides can come to the realization that there is a middle ground. Dare to dream….

“What can we do to reduce gun violence?”

How about taking those that commit a crime with a gun and place them in prison for an additional twenty years, no parole, no reduction for good behavior, cannot be served concurrently with any other sentence. How about we make a convicted felon with a fire arm serve twenty years on the same terms. How about we make first degree murder with a firearm an automatic death penalty t be carried out in 30 days of the conviction. How about we hang the gang bangers on the location of the murder they committed and leave them hanging for 24 hours

I don’t know unless the limits on rounds per clip were also instituted and a force buy back instituted could have made his murders less than they were. Also we need a functioning mental health police.

Global warming will do it to us too. Take longer but it is already estimated at its present uninterrupted rate it can forestall the next Ice Age by 100,000 years.

Good solutions. One more: why wait until those minorities actually cause some damage before we incarcerate them; let’s lock them all up BEFORE they do.
