I wish the USA had a bullet train… so refreshing after 8 years of Bush to have a president who is for mass transit!

I’ll be happy with a little more investment in our train system. Maybe enough for Amtrak to own its own tracks and not have to share with freight companies. Our family loves train travel (and are taking a train trip across country this summer), but we don’t come close to European rail sophistication.

To have bullet trains in this country every mile of track would have to be replaced or upgraded to be safe, also every grade crossing, all of the computerization and just about everything that has anything to do with the current rail system. Pretty bleeep expensive if you ask me considering there isn’t one public tranportation system in this country that pays for itself.
