A number of scandals occurred at the Environmental Protection Agency during the Reagan Administration. Over twenty high-level EPA employees were removed from office during Reagan’s first three years as president.39 Additionally, several Agency officials resigned amidst a variety of charges, ranging from being unduly influenced by industry groups to rewarding or punishing employees based on their political beliefs.40 Sewergate, the most prominent EPA scandal during this period, involved the targeted release of Superfund grants to enhance the election prospects of local officials aligned with the Republican Party.
The first thing Reagan did was fire all the lawyers who had cases against companies.
“In defiance of Congressional requests to immediately halt closures of library collections, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is purging records from its library websites, making them unavailable to both agency scientists and outside researchers, according to documents released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). At the same time, EPA is taking steps to prevent the re-opening of its shuttered libraries, including the hurried auctioning off of expensive bookcases, cabinets, microfiche readers and other equipment for less than a penny on the dollar.”
This is self destruction of public property at its worst. While selling the furniture for pennies on the dollar to friends is just plain old theft, the destruction of years of research into toxic chemicals and pesticides is an outright assault on the lives and health of every American. This obvious attempt to help industry by knee-capping the regulatory agency that protects us from the chemicals is so cynical, so dangerous, and so homicidal that somebody from the Bush cabal had better go to jail over this one.
The Bush admin destroyed the records of chemical testing to protect companies.
The Republicans have a long history of favoring companies over people when it comes to the enviornment.
Only a few of the possible deadly chemicals out there have been tested if they prove to be money makers.

Republicans need to reflect back on THEIR right to a “unitary Executive” that ignores Congress, and their efforts to pass some rather ludicrous laws intended to remove Executive Authority granted in the CONSTITUTION, from the “not their guy”. It happened under Clinton too, not just Obama.

Thus proving that the rethuglicans don’t care about either sick poor people, or the environment. Ok, Ok, I realize that that is not quite a stunning new revelation…

    I hear ya Rad…….ish.

DUDE, this is perhaps the weakest argument one can revert to.

YES YES YES, past politicians were … well …. POLITICIANS. They all lie cheat and steal in order to fund their never ending campaigns to stay at the public trough and line their own pockets with cold hard taxpayer cash.

Do you think that democrats are any different than republicans in this regard?

Anyway, the old adage says “two wrongs do not make a right” holds true.

Now tell me, how does pricing electricity out of the ability of those living on low incomes favoring people over companies?

I understand the need to move to cleaner energy. However, it is counter productive to shut down your energy production before the alternative is viable and able to produce the same level or more energy.

I can tell you first hand solar and wind don’t meet that requirement.

Funny how right wingers find history to be a weak argument when it goes against them.

See you don’t have a clue do you?

It isn’t the History that is the argument. The history is fact. The problem is that when someone complains about the lawlessness of Obama the first response is Bush/Reagan/conservative in general did it too.

    W E A K>>>>>>

You hated it when Bush did it. WHY do you approve of it when Obama does it?

    Kind of hypocritical doncha’ think?

The EPA has been running amok for a long time and desperately needs to be reigned in before it causes further harm to the economy with its idiotic policies.

    the lawlessness of Obama
And what lawlessness is that? You must know something the Republicans don’t, otherwise there would be impeachment.
And actually, yes, I do think that Democrats are different than Republicans when it comes to protecting the public from predatory corporations and special interests.
Democrats believe that our citizens should be educated, fed, inoculated, protected, and housed. If you can do it on your own, fine. Being free from want, fear, and disease is essential to an individual’s pursuit of happiness. Being preyed upon by corporate interests who have no regard for the toxicity of their operations is what the EPA is supposed to prevent.

I would think with such an embarrassing misspelling in this that you’d be in more of a hurry to get a new cartoon up.

And yet the unintended consequences of EPA regulations seem to target the very people that they are suppose to be protecting.

Sure, you go ahead and believe that every single person that is a conservative thinks that our citizens should NOT be educated, fed, inoculated, protected and housed.

Corporations need to put people to work NOT the government.

You can make a contract with a business that satisfies your needs.

The government makes laws that tells you what you need.

    There is a difference.

If only the “rethuglicans” cared like Obama…
A healthcare overhaul where over half of the new sign ups are people that lost their care because of it.
A economy where a smaller percentage of the population is working than ever before (since Carter at least)
A huge boon in people receiving public assistance (either he’s recruiting or the economy is THAT bad).
Perhaps if Obama and the Democrats “cared” less, we would be in better shape.
