A President with a sense of humor, using a method that does seem to be having an effect to get the “younger generation” on board because of this outlet, how tragic, for the idiots on the right.

Ahhhh….no. Sorry. It was just kind of an embarassment. And speaking for the middle age generation, I want a leader not a celebrity. Obama doesn’t seem to understand the difference. And yes, there is one.

Typical lib stratgegy, steal from one group to give handouts to another.

Typical rightwing foolishness, pretending that “sharing the cost” doesn’t count when it’s higher taxes to support the free treatment of the poor under the current system. It only counts when we reduce that burden with a more equitable system that … oh, what’s the point of trying to explain this to someone who thinks it’s “lib stratgegy”?

Mr. Bok clearly doesn’t understand the concept of insurance. There will always be some who are higher risk and some who are lower risk in the pool. And one thing you can guarantee with health insurance is that you will use it, barring a swift death at a young age.

You and Bok both don’t really get the concept of insurance, do you?

“Wealth”? “Wealth”? That’s the funniest part of the cartoon.

And I suppose you do so enlighten the rest of us.

My opinion? Well, think of the neighborhood mom and pop store and the loval thug that comes in and demands a small sum each week from profits. Yep, it’s to “insure” that “nothing bad” happens to you or your business. Just think what devastation a fire or maybe a personal accident like a fall down the stairs would do to your livelihood. So a “C” note each week ain’t so bad now is it?

Oh yeah, insurance is a wager. You bet you WILL get sick or have catastrophe of some kind and the insurance company – armed with all the actuary tables and insight into all the stats concerning the thing insured, is betting it will not happen….well not anytime soon anyway. PLUS you have all that fine print to wade through to see if what has happened is actually covered.

But if you take that hundred a week and save it…well.

So tell me, a man who has paid for all types of insurance for 45 plus years and collected not one dime. What is insurance all about????

    @Craig Linder

I don’t think Mr. Bok is commenting on “insurance” per say, but of the stereo typical liberal mindset of “someone else should pay”, thinking where the president basically says “that someone else is YOU”.

of course it is….. like I said … thugs with cash going after my cash too

Soooooooo tell me, those that administer the program, collect and escrow the cash, deal with the hospitals and doctors, will they “volunteer” their time and effort to this simple cooperative?

AND, during the start up, when there IS NO cash to distribute to those providers, who is it that will pay the providers OR do you expect them to wait until there are sufficient funds collected to get paid?

I’m not saying that one can not do the dance “more better” BUT you seem to forget a few of the details of running a business.

    yep, it takes investors.

investors want to see a return on their investment or they do not invest.

    just sayin……..

    In a ideal world…
In that ideal world people would not be driving expensive cars and buy groceries with food stamps, nor would they have cable TV.
I personally have no problem buying a meal for that homeless guy, but I do resent being forced to pay for someone to stay home and watch Oprah and Jerry Springer while I’m working and barely able to make ends meet.

You don’t need a perfect world to find a decent health insurance system. Head north to Canada, not perfect, but pretty good. Go Switzerland, as martens points out, for a different but still decent system. But somehow it’s beyond the intelligence of the US to find a way to make sure all citizens have health insurance.
