And Iran did not snub President Obama as depicted.

Rouhani said the fact that he did not end up shaking the hand of President Barack Obama should not be construed as a lack of interest in rapprochement. The symbolic act would have signaled a joint willingness to move toward détente for the first time since Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution.

There are “no problems in terms of shaking Mr. Obama’s hand and negotiating with him,” Rouhani said. “It was two days ago that the US proposed a meeting and we were not opposed. This is a very sensitive subject. We have not talked at that level for 35 years. We must take these steps carefully.”

RWNJs don’t want to negotiate, with foreign countries, or their “opposite number” here at home… It is long past time to stop talking about bombing Iran’s 65 million people, to please a tiny faction from a country with only 6 million, who DO have nukes, and “bad attitude” that has carried over for millennia.

It’s also time for chickenhawks to realize that for a long time our folks in the military have seen PEACE as their PROFESSION, not endless wars to profit the MIC, and funeral directors.

The difference is that Rouhani understands the difference between “negotiation” and “extortion,” so he’s worth talking to. He isn’t going to say, “Destroy your nation and I’ll let you look at our nukes,” unlike the terrorists of the GOP, who say, “Destroy a program approved by Congress, confirmed by the Supreme Court and wanted by people, or I’ll destroy the nation.”
