Nothing like a little timely military threat against your man to motivate negotiations.

It’s not over, but it does look as if there may be a diplomatic solution. Obama has managed to involve Russia in a positive way — it’s clear that Putin put pressure on Assad. I’m cautiously optimistic.

But he’s slick like Willie, because he waited until his fifth year to ask Congress to attack a country that is not now a direct threat to us.
Oops, Bush only asked first about Afghanistan

Yeah, he’s such a war monger that he took the diplomatic solution as soon as it was offered!
…wait, that makes no sense. And neither do you.

Ironic twist here isn’t it. Depending on another nation is something foreign to the US concept of power. Surely this can not stand. The PR department needs to find one of the more influential members of Congress to pose without a shirt.. riding a horse, wrestling a bear… or something. Sadly Obama shirtless shooting hoops is not that manly.

Putin – the conservative’s new hero. What was it -the shirtless horseback ride, the gun, the fishing rod, the big fish, the diving suit, the motor cycle? Perhaps it was those baby blues that Bush stared into.

    “meet Russia-the world’s new superpower”
Russia has always been one of them, but calling them #1, don’t say it loud enough for China to hear.
    .
Why does #2 (USA) need number three to save their face?
Oh well, at least it all worked out for the best, considering the options.

An accidental solution is still a solution. How it plays out, as Tigger says, is yet to be seen.
But it won’t stop the civil war.
I hope the Arab League will take all those shiny toys we sold them and use them to end this family feud, but as I’ve already stated, there is nothing that western, non Islamic, nations can do that will be appreciated. It’s very sad.
    Respectfully,
    C.

I don’t think the “solution” is at all “accidental”, but “statecraft”.. That some post their I.Q.s in their screen names (golf “metaphor”) does explain their understanding of complexity.

“so you trust Putin and Assad”
    .
Where in sam heck did that come from..
    .
That closet gay homophobe and the baby killing pervert.
No, ansonia, I do not trust them. Are you baiting me? Geez.

Only off the hookski as far as the ignorant are concerned. The Obamanation’s inept, wishy-washy handling of this whole thing is glaringly obvious to all who are willing to see. Just as with all the other many scandals that have plagued his regime. The goober is way in over his head and is easily the most foolish and incompetent president this country has had to misfortune, and stupidity, to put in power.

… and it only took a year to carefully set up. Or don’t all rightwingers read the Wall Street Journal anymore? I guess they’d rather hate Obama than save lives — American or Syrian.

^Hmm, I’ve long been critical of a number of Obama’s actions, but the blind followers, called “dittoheads”, or “conservatives” don’t ever notice.

WHICH, speaking of “messiah”, and thinking of the arch radical “Christians” who keep attacking from their “religious” perspective of an “angry and vengeful God”, just read a book loaned from a friend who ministers to both Episcopal and Presbyterian congregations here: It’s “Love Wins” by Rob Bell.

He’s evangelical, and true Christian, who actually understands the real truth of God and Jesus— very good read, and quite funny at times, and an enjoyable and informative read, even for this Buddhist!
