How about this: Get rid of the hype and sentimental drivel that constitutes the vast majority of Olympic coverage and ADD sports to fill in those blanks?

Growing up a hard core sports person, I try to watch the Olympics.
The past few have been WTF? and I give it up after a few hours.
.
Local high school and college sports are more competetive and I can actually relate to the action.

I’ve never had much interest in the olympics. If there’s no objective goal, then it’s not a sport (figure skating is not a sport).
Allowing professional athletes in the olympics has ruined what little was interesting about it.

Getting back to having the athletes nude might help some of the “prudes” overcome their obsession with scantily clad beach volleyball “teasers”?
I’ve followed the Olympics for decades, as I ran track and cross country, and my brother would have been in the ‘60 Olympics if he hadn’t been killed in a car accident.
Any sport such as track and field, or even figure skating, is more a “sport” than the team sports like football and basketball that are more a two-legged version of horse racing, more focused on making the gambling industry thrive, or entertainment like “professional wrestling” that is mostly hitting people with chairs rather than “wrestling”, or simply gladiator events that are only slightly less lethal than the original “real thing”.
