    Their country has given them so much, such great opportunities, so many rewards and honours, yet they refuse to give anything back. Shameful.

    Where are you getting that he’s “refusing to give anything back” ?
    Is he paying his fair share of taxes or not?
    .
    People who like to be parasites on the money-earners get so nasty when the host feels like the parasites are taking over. “How DARE they want to keep the money THEY’VE earned? We’ve become accustomed to expecting other people to pay our way! That can’t change!”

    Why socialism doesn’t work.

    I’m pretty sure that Phil Mickelson doesn’t work as hard as a nurse, a janitor, a sanitation worker, a cop, a teacher, a fast-food worker, a construction worker, a slaughterhouse worker. He PLAYS for a living.
    .
    But he’s like a lot of other clueless millionaires. He thinks that we NEED him. We don’t. He’s just some whining circus clown on TV with a good golf swing and not much more than that.

    If he moves to Florida, like Tiger and many others there is no state income tax.
    But when you buy anything other than unprepared food and prescriptions there is a 7% sales tax.
    That includes sales tax on cars, pet food, fast food, meals at restaurants, etc.
    That is $1,400 tax on an economy car.
    Mickelson has already said it was a mistake to say that.
    But like when Fuzzy Zoeller made a joke about Tiger, it lasted for years.

    I called my PA and gave him an example of a small businessman who has his own small corporation. He plugged in reasonable numbers to cover Federal Income Tax, State Income Tax, City income Tax, Corporation tax, SS tax, medicare tax. Not including property tax, sales tax

    Bottom line Michelson and every small businessman pays OVER 70% in taxes. Not a typo. My CPA told me I do. If you don’t believe me call your own accountant.The jealous ones out there think giving Uncle Sam 70% of what you earn is fair but hate every penny they have to pay. Try and collect a $7.00 co-pay for a medical visit.

    @pirate227

    You do, the math.

    small corporation total sales = $2M
    Salary to owner $500,000
    other expenses $500,000
    Profit = $1,000,000

    Taxes on profit Corporate Income Tax = $350,000 paid to Uncle Sam

    Net profit = $650,000 paid to owner
    Owner now owes Federal Income tax on $1,150,000. ($650,000 + $500,000)(up to an additional 35%) Also NYS income tax (up to 8-10%) also NYC income tax (up to 8%) also Social security tax also medicare tax (no upper limit on amount taxes)

    Bottom line on his $1,500,000 income he gets to keep 30%.

    How does your BS claim sound now?

    The US has the highest corporate income tax rate in the entire free world but somehow liberals totally forget about it because it is inconvenient in their argument that the successful are under-taxed.

    Brilliant idea. You make up a pseudo fact and then refute it. Does that ever work?

    I gave a very specific example. It obviously hit much to close to home because it makes your core beliefs obsolete. It is so easy to try and ignore the corporate taxes that are paid because if you count them then the wealthy are indeed paying a “fair” tax and for you demagogues that is intolerable.
