At least now we will know what Obama meant by that statement.

^ Anyone with a functioning cortex has already understood he was stating that a president elected to a second term has more of a mandate to push through necessary changes.
It’s not all that difficult.

$380 BILLION to spiffy up our current nuclear arsenal over the next 10 years! We all know that $380 Billion is military spending talk for $1.2Trillion!
.
Let’s talk VERY seriously about being “Flexible” and we’ll reduce the number of Nukes we have pointed at you and you can reduce the number of nukes you have pointed at us!
.
Time to talk like grown ups!
.
The nuclear era is past! The world needs to work together towards the 23rd Century!

wbr: Putin, actually wants to reduce the chance of nuclear war, or war. Therefore, much better to give him what he wants, than to give Netanyahu what HE wants!
Mitt still catered to the idiot JBS element. It isn’t the 50’s any more. It’s also time for the U.S. to stop searching for enemies, look for friends, and identify which are our false friends, like the only ones who HAVE fired on U.S. vessels, ignored U.S. as well as U.N. sanctions, and had their economy stabilized by the U.S. since their creation.
The “right to exist” does NOT grant the right to continue attacking their neighbors “preemptively”, and starting all the real trouble in the region, over, and over, and over again. (for like three millennia!!)

Nuclear weapons are fickle b*****s. They need constant attention in terms of aging explosives and diminishing initial neutron-sources (ironically “Americium”, can you believe it?). They have a shelf-live of about 30 years and most of them are approaching that. So even if you drastically reduce the number, as long as it’s not zero you have to spend money to keep the things working. And I wouldn’t trust a 30 year old ICBM either, for that manner…

I’m not arguing that the process doesn’t want to be done for good reasons. I’m saying that if we can cut the cost by maintaining less of them, that’s not a bad idea.
.
I function off the presupposition that the world and humans are going to be here for millions of years. I reject the pessimism of the dystopian future. I believe that the age of “Assured Mutual destruction” are behind us. Because they are already inevitable. Iran will NEVER launch a nuke attack because The Russians love their children too! as do the Iranians, and the North Koreans, and the Pakistani…
