If you could organize things in a matter that work you could have your one election day back. But it would have to be a Sunday, like in the rest of the civilized world… As it stands early voting was a big success and help mitigate the problems seen in 04 and 08, so until someone comes up with a better idea you should keep it.

I voted early this year, and I saw many people voting who would have been disenfranchised if they had been required to stand in long lines to vote. Our voting station is not nearly as accessible as the subcourthouse where the early voting took place.

I tried to vote early, but there was a long line to the courthouse…. and once I found where my polling place was on Election Day (I even decided to take a chair just in case I had another long line waiting to vote) —I found I didn’t need it! Not only was there no long lines, there were no lines at all at 1pm!
.
Next time this happens, I’m bringing those election workers Munchkins in appreciation.

I live in such a tiny district that I don’t think I’ve seen more than 5 voters in attendance when I vote. I walk in, state my name, show ID, walk to the machine, vote, and go home. My car had barely had the time to warm up before I was back home yesterday. I used to live in the largest city in the state, and even though there were crowds, we never had long lines. I don’t know what’s different about Virginia, but it seems to work. (We do not have early voting, either.)

Our Founding Fathers set the Election the 1st Tuesday after the First Monday in November as at the time this was the best time to hold the election. At that time it took 2 days to travel to Polling Places, and the Harvests were in.

Did you not watch the Returns Tuesday?
Did you not see News Reports Wednesday Morning telling us people in Florida were standing in line at 02:00 in the morning to Vote?
