With a 56% drop in membership in the public sector unions in Wisconsin, I don’t think there are enough thugs in the country to get people to rejoin and start contributing their dues.

Now that the union is gutted and saving the state money, how about a raise for the teachers? Oh, sorry, I meant another tax break for the rich.

I have experience to see an analogy between unions and cops. There are departments that have good cops, and bad cops. Lots of folks hate ALL cops, until they need one to defend them. If you’re being beaten by a mugger, are you going to call a cop, or another mugger, to defend you??

I was just about to respond: “I’d call George Zimmerman!” when I saw your post.
    Good one!

but it sucks worse without them – Of course, we all forget how bad it was before unions. I suspect we’ll all begin remembering real soon.

Yes, there is very little sense of history displayed in some of these comments. I don’t say that all unions all the time are good, but overall it’s better to have them than not.

Not really. I’ve been forced to join unions twice in my career. In both cases, they took money out of my paycheck and then held me back from salary increases that I could of negotiated on my own. In both cases, I quit for a job with better salary and benefits.

Anyone here offended by the Wisconsin win by Walker can march right down to their local union hall and donate their own money until they feel revenge. I bet the union hall would even let them sign up and make weekly donations. Support your local union because the average person is sick of being forced to pay. Lincoln freed the slaves, unions made slaves of all their people.

No one requires that you belong to a union. You will still have to pay dues, because they are bargaining for you. You just won’t get to vote on union issues.

Let’s see. Walker busts the unions and many families are in dire financial straits as the result as Reslugnican policies. So, union membership declines because the unions can no longer serve as their advocate. Think there might be a connection? Would you continue to pay rent on a house after someone burned you out of it?
