So we should base reform on what someone MIGHT do?

Get real. The doctors do this all the time. How many are so altruistic that they aren’t rich ? None.

Ask the ones who volunteer their time in developing nations. They exist. Another thing to consider, if you went through pre-med. med school, and an internship from hell wouldn’t you want decent compensation? All of that education isn’t cheap either.

Even the ones who volunteer in other countries, Glad dear, are still rich enough to go over there wihout missing a meal. As for education not being cheap, I know… I am still paying mine off.

I am willing to pay my surgeon more than my paper boy.

Wonder how many would whine when faced with achoice where the alternative isn’t very ah, “desirable”.

    light dear,
you have gone from rich to not missing a meal. Why don’t you define rich so those of us who like numbers can figure out what you’re saying?

The only people as a class, that really pilfer the health care system are lawyers - but they are also the Democrat Party preeminent protected class. Hence - hands off.

Another flightless bird, petergrt- EVERY lawyer in my town is a right wing Republican- and we have more than a fair share of lawyers. Even in L.A.- lawyers are mostly right-leaning. Defense attorney’s in pro-bono or public defender roles, do tend toward liberals, but the American Bar Association is not a liberal hub.

dtroutma: I have seen you post some silly comments, but this one is over the pail, and hence not worthy of a response.

This toon is spot-on! My sentiments exactly. The government idea isn’t to fix the problem with the economy….it is to replace it when their own. They are doing the same thing with healthcare too.

With healthcare, it is like sending a car to the crusher because the carbeuretor is out of adjustment and using too much fuel.

With the economy, it’s much like sending the bus to a crusher on account of a bad driver.

If there is a health care professional who makes less money than an art teacher, Glad, Dear, I would consider them in danger of missing a meal . In some of the poorer areas, where I live, we can make as little as 22,000. a year. I have, and am currently substitute teaching, at 80.00 a day. (Not in the summer, of course.) is that enough numbers for you?

That’s a rather silly statement in itself if I take your meaning. Are you saying that lawyers are all in the pocket of the Democratic Party (BTW, it’s Democratic Party, not Democrat Party. I would hope you might know the difference). Lawyers are as much in the domain of the Republic Party (oh, sorry, Republican) as any other party.

Regardless, I would argue that the insurance industry has carved out a rather nice little cash cow for themselves. Anyone care to look at their profits?

you started with the dear crap. No it isn’t. You haven’t mentioned any numbers regarding ‘doctor’s’ salaries. If you have a problem with subbing at 80$ a day you should have majored in a different subject. I did my share of substituting and my sympathy is distinctly lacking. While I believe that teachers’ salaries should be higher, no one hid the numbers from me when I went into the field. Again, define rich.

NO! I am saying that the Democrat Party is OWNED at least in part by the Trial Lawyers!!!

Insurance companies profits - not so hot. But than again, profit is a dirty word …
