   Hmmm… very cloudy this one. Europe is eating Wall St as we try to save it? I understand what you’re saying Paul but don’t see it borne out in this toon.

   Uncle Sam will return home with only the reamins of the economy… but the role of Europe here is not clear, because every market has been hit by this turmoil…

   The cartoon is saying that America saving itself (via the bailout) will help Europe get out of the economic crisis they are in since Europe’s economy is dependent on ours.

   Europe is already in the fish (economy ruined) and are holding on to the very same life perserver to get them out of the ocean that America is using not to fall in.

   I’m convinced – it’s a bad cartoon. We can’t even figure out what it is supposed to mean before we argue about whether it is right!

   motemagus, I suspect the intended statement was that Europe, and a good portion of the rest of the world markets, had a good bit of exposure to the “housing bubble” ( eg UK, Northern Rock) and a large portion of the “bailout” will end up finding it’s way into other economies.

    This is incredibly ignorant. Does Mr. Bok never actually read the news? Every now and then I go back and check to see if he has anything funny or interesting to say but always it is ignorant drivel.
