Come on people, have some respect. Bieber is a somewhat attractive boy who makes lots of girls feel funny "down there. That makes them want to attend his concerts and buy his records. That popularity makes him a celebrity. As we all know, there is nothing more newsworthy in this country than celebrity doing something as minor as sneezing. That Bieber did anything is a major news scoop of Earth shattering importance.

Hey, South Beach DOES have some good bars and restaurants, which, other than the Everglades and Big Cypress is the only place in Florida worth visiting. (But still wouldn’t want to live there!)

WOW ! He “killed members of your family who happened to be on vacation in Miami at the time”…understand why you “fell” that way. But he’s rich, he “built that” and is a “Job Creator”…is that just your “class envy”. He can enjoy the fruit of his labor any way he wants, no ?…just ‘cause he’s got “Affluenza” doesn’t mean he’s bad, does it ?

I heard on ‘Wait, Wait’ on NPR that, before the drag race, they blocked off the streets with SUVs so no one would get hurt.

Typical Canadian. Playing safe and taking all the fun out of it.

Record companies are in business to make money. They audition boys to form boy bands to sell records. The primary criteria is how they look and how girls react to them. Everything else can be taught, bought or faked.

They signed Bieber under the same criterion. The girls find him attractive and they buy his music. If they didn’t, he’d be treated the same as any other teen punk. He’s treated differently because he has fame and money. He has fame and money because girls go crazy over him. They go crazy over him because “oh my god, he’s so hot!” Sometimes reality is crude and unfunny. Deal with it.

My comment probably would have been better served on Mike Lester’s cartoon.

I personally find Bieber to be an annoying little punk, and should be treated the same as any other punk kid acting up. Child stars rarely turn into well adjusted adults. He needs to straighten out before he does kill someone. Maybe some time in jail with all the other law breakers will give him some time to think about his behavior before it’s too late.

“I was tempted to write a detailed reply…”

But instead you just did your usual, and ran away, tail tucked firmly between your legs.

I think Toronto mayor Rob Ford should be sent down to provide counseling for young Justin Bieber. What could go wrong?

The thread only died when you were unable to respond to my last post. I applied the arguments you made against mandatory seat belts to requiring prescriptions for most medicines to show how lacking they were…and you apparently agreed.

Now calling it a “red herring” is just an alternate way to sidestep the issue.

Saying there are “more than enough regulations” ignores the benefits to a seat belt law, and is a mindless way to address the need for regulations in other areas, as well.
