Yeah. and for the most part we are also a large percent of the ultra conservative hated 47% that do to our relatively low income, no longer pay federal income taxes. Of course, we also paid into social security through our FICA taxes all of our working lives. Some of us will even live long enough to collect more than we originally invested, but that is generally made up by the millions upon millions that die well before they can ever collect a penny (such as my beloved son, who was killed last year at the age of 45)!!

And what is just as ironic, is that when we fight for social security, we are not doing it for we that are already collecting, or about to collect. As even the most ultra conservative right wing tea party type of Congress Person knows to keep his/her paws off of that. As fooling with that is not just touching the third rail of American politics, it is more like laying down on that rail as the train runs over you! No, when we fight for social security we are fighting for future generations to have the same obligations and benefits that we have. So maybe those younger people themselves might want to join us??

The guy who is filling in for Chris Matthews played a clip yesterday that had about two dozen falsehoods in it. From a right wing zealot of course.

“Republicans are too caught up in a culture where as long as we’re negative and as long as we’re vicious and as long as we can tear down our opponent, we don’t have to learn anything — and so we don’t.”

Newt Gingrich at last Wednesday’s RNC conference.

Political discourse can not be productively conducted when both sides are divided by the lies and policies of the most extreme members of our self serving legislators and those in the media who are willing to lie, divide, and enrage citizens against each other for profit.
Some comments are so mean spirited, it makes them painful to read. It makes me wonder that, if given the opportunity, some of these haters would gleefully kill those with whom they disagree, whether in office or just one of their neighbors.

Compromise? That is intolerable in the modern conservative movement. They’d rather die than even make reasonable compromises (did you see the letter written by a bunch of Tea Party people to Lamar Alexander? These people are simply not qualified to govern anything, they couldn’t even run a business.)

The ever smaller group of those not alienated by modern tea party republicans are clearly reflected in the small minded, misinformed, almost willfully ignorant trolls we see spewing out their lies and misconceptions on this page. They can scream and shout and pout here all they want, but in time they will be shown, because of their self centered hatred and fear, to have chosen the wrong side, and will be left behind as humanity moves forward to better times. Goodbye trolls, you will NOT be missed.

OLDER (angry) WHITE (male) VOTERs – the mainstay of the GOP base. Sad truth: that demographic is NOT replenishing itself. What a shame (not).

Mean-spiritedness is not limited to party or political persuasion. There is no value in pointing out examples of “the other side” if you cannot accept that some on “your side” are equally disrespectful.

In my opinion, anyone who feels the need to try to pick a fight with someone as reasonable and respectful of others as RT is part of the problem. Check your mirror.

The only pary to adversely affect Social Security and Medicare is the Democrats. Obama cut $900 billion from Medicare and his payroll tax cut cut contributions to the Social Security trust fund.

    ====
This is really an amusing quote coming from Gingrich.
    =
Gingrich’ entire career has been one of viscious negativity and tearing down his opponent. When he was running against Willard the ChickenHawk, his attacks were so viscious that party leaders made him stop.
    =
He is correct in his assessment, but he presents it in the most negative way.
    =
You’ll notice HE didn’t have any alternative plan(s) to improve health care or jobs, either.
