I like the arm ending in enormous fingers emerging from the twisted wreck.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone too stupid to put the phone down and drive. Unfortunately, it’s hardly ever only themselves that they harm with their idiocy.
Can’t just blame technology for this mess, either. I still remember the old man I passed on the highway one morning with a newspaper draped over his steering wheel!

Well, there are laws against texting and driving. Yet, there are documented cases of people doing so and causing accidents, sometimes fatal ones.
    -
This PROVES that the law is not enforceable. Therefore, those laws should be repealed or never enacted in the first place.

    ======

The exact same logic applies to gun control laws, right?*

If the texting driver survives the collision they cause, it could help keep them off the streets, or in prison longer, if there are laws against texting and driving. If there are no laws against texting and driving, what does it matter?

Then only criminals will text and drive…

Several years ago we passed a driver who was painting her toenails. And we are all, at heart, criminals, or we would need no laws.

If your premise is true, then both of us must be criminals. I was born with a crazy condition. What’s your crime?
    .
My point is that you’re generalizing , which I hate as there is always someone who will prove you wrong. When you said that “…we would need no laws”, I’m going to be one of the many in this country who will prove you wrong. Because of my condition, I need a structure for me to function in Life; in the Law of this Land (the Constitution), I find the structure I need.
    .
    Therefore, your premise is False.

Your premise based on my post is also false, if as I was taught, we were created in our Father’s image, and are fallen, then we are at hart criminals. If we were the perfect beings we were created to be, we would need no laws.

So what you’re saying is that the perfect Creator, who designed us to be “perfect beings”, nonetheless thought it was ok to let us become “criminals”? Let us have the “free will” that would land the great majority of us in a never-ending hell? Sounds like a loving Father, doesn’t it?

Twisted logic, but seems good enough for those who are too afraid to question “tradition”.

You really have to be careful out there. Inattentive drivers are everywhere.

A good friend in Colorado was stopped with a friend at a stop light, a gal talking on her phone ran over his friend on a motorcycle (my friend is paraplegic and rides a “trike”), he heard her say “Just a minute, I think I hit something.”

This was another fatal “accident” caused by an idiot on a cell phone while driving. DUII is losing out rapidly to “cause of death” in motor vehicle accidents, and reporting use when accidents occurred was long NOT done, and still is often denied, but you can’t do a breathalyzer or field sobriety test to prove another victim of texting or talking while driving

Make the practice illegal in all states, with stiff CRIMINAL penalties, not just “traffic violations”.
